Using the title of a decade-retrospective listicle over a feature story collection of extremely personal anecdotes about the author’s life strikes me as a narcissistic bait-and-switch. Both genres of story are fine but readers going in expecting one won’t be happy to find the other.

Nice article but you’re a few years late to the conversation....

...No shit?

Lol. The game fucking sucks. Real bad. And it's the most exploitable major AAA title of all time. Cute defense though.

It’s almost like trying to build an MMO on top of a single-player engine is a terrible idea.

“conherant”

Apples and oranges. Their characteristics are definitely different even if their backgrounds are fundamentally similar. The biggest difference would be that Cloud wasn’t constantly brooding. He was indifferent though until he fell into Aerith’s church. After that he showed himself to be a caring and thoughtful

I don’t know if it was the departure of so many of the original Squaresoft employees around that time, but I think this is when SE lost their way. I am not certain that they have ever found it again.

Cloud and Squall are nothing alike; unless you’re image of Cloud is from Advent Children and not the game.

You find artifacts and learn a few obscure facts about them, but you’re forced to put the pieces of the lore together based on the locations the artifacts are in, and the relationships you uncover about characters. Putting together the lore becomes part of the

I disliked the style-over-substance combat system which eschewed tactical nuance for a faster pace and a more hands-off role. That fed into my dislike of the corridor world design, where being able to see the

I’m just commenting to say that Shadowbringers is legit amazing and only makes me more frustrated more of their games don’t have writing that good.

Dark Souls didn’t have nearly three decades of traditional storytelling under its belt, and the way Dark Souls “database” entirely worked was by elegantly putting items and gear and lore in corresponding areas for you to actively discover of your own volition.

It’s not because it’s complicated, it’s because it’s not told well enough to care when you’re supposed to care. Same with XV.

Lightning isn’t Cloud.

I felt like I needed a FF dictionary and a flowchart just to understand the plot. I don’t begrudge the game or anyone who enjoyed it, but man, it was next to impossible for me to enjoy the story.

How about shed some light on the recent events or successes for once?

Wow what a deal. Fuck you

Wow what a deal. Fuck you

Different game, actually!
