I was devastated to learn that Claude would not be an option. And in all likelihood I will use the woman avatar, which I do more often than not as it satisfies my non-binary nature more than playing masculine usually because of how masculinity is encoded into the majority of narratives. 

All of what you said is true, no sarcasm. Your best interests are in direct competition with these companies. Developers SHOULD make everything for YOU. YOU’RE THE CONSUMER. And if they don’t meet your expectations, you go with the competition if they line up closer with your expectations.

Graphics - in general - are cosmetic. If it was JUST cosmetics, we could replace every character model with a big grey placeholder box and sell those character models seperately. After all ... it’s just cosmetics.

Micro-transactions are for whales and people who are naturally predisposed to haphazardly spend cash. It’s not for the regular Joe. But to get the regular Joe involved, the game is oft designed subtly or not to encourage spending. This is why the majority of games with micro-transactions feel so grindy or repetitive.

Companies aren’t selling these to people like us. They’re betting on a couple percentage points’ worth of players being big spenders (“whales”) to whom dropping money to get everything is the default. The rest of us are just caught in their wake.

From all the reviews I’ve read/watched, the microtransactions are the least of this game’s problems.
