Well in a sense you cant fast travel to a Star System that is beyond any system you have yet to explore or go to. So you have to go to connecting systems that arent explored on your journey there.  

Uh, this could be said of any game with Fast Travel.  Witcher 3, Elder Scrolls, etc.

No they do not! They take on the low end 3-5 seconds and on the rare high end 15-20 seconds. Im playing on the Series X. If this is true it has to be a PC issue.
