Wasn’t even a car, learned on a dump truck when I worked at a golf course. I was fairly decent at it (except starting on hills) but several of the other workers were of the “grind it till you find it” mentality, so all of the synchros were shot to shit.

First time I saw one of those tractor shift patterns (John Deere I think), I just about shit myself wondering how the hell I was supposed to shift that thing. Then my buddy told me you can get the tractor going in any gear and you just leave it there.

It’s not just with all of the safety nannies in cars now. They don’t even put pertinent information in the owners manuals anymore. No fluid capacities, no oil grades, no torque specs, nothing! Zip! Zero! Nada!
