“Back then, we called Donkey Kong ‘Professor Bananas,’ and he didn’t throw barrels, he threw disobedient Irishmen! Most of the videy games cost one horsepenny and were eight seconds long! All of them were about a man trying to marry a potato, which was the style at the time.”
He’s only pretending to like games!!! Get ‘im, boys!!!
Thank you for defending the honor of that most beautiful and valiant creature, the “gamer.”
You’re right, because I don’t consider myself a gamer, but I will absolutely defend this game as massively fun, even solo.
Hunger Games and Twilight have at least at some point been relevant to our culture. Maze Runner is totally insignificant to anything and everything.
I saw the first movie, I think you may be right about the maze-running.
i think it helps to consider that this whole issue is much larger than lunkheaded athletes and a sport. If civilians are targeted and vilified by the President of the United States for protesting racial (or otherwise) injustice and other egregious acts, then this spells trouble for democracy, equality, and the…
That’s circular reasoning.
Are you blind? If so, please ask someone near you to describe pictures of the “Alt-Right” protests where they throw the Nazi salute, carry Nazi swastika flags, and shout about killing Jews.
Eh... if you carry Nazi paraphernalia, shout Nazi slogans, espouse Nazi philosophy and call yourselves Nazis, I think it’s safe for someone to refer to you as a Nazi.
It’s a long time since I read HDM, and I was significantly younger when I did so that went over my head at the time, but that’s a really good point. I keep telling myself I need to read them again, especially now the sequel trilogy is starting, that’s something else for me to keep in mind when I do.
Just wait until they stumble across a documentary about what the Spartan’s really did in their spare time...
Sure, when someone says they couldn’t make a movie today no one interprets that as “the cops would shut him down if he tried to film it with his phone in his backyard”. But Blazing Saddles wouldn’t be Blazing Saddles without funding.
Yep. Never underestimate the fanboi tendency to totally misunderstand their “most favorite thing evar”. My favorite example: anti-PC “freeze peach” crusaders who fail to notice that Blazing Saddles is obviously and emphatically against bigotry of all kinds.
Sounds like steam escaping.
And we really just got to see that Rick isn’t infallible... his goof ups, embarrassing moments and mistakes get erased from Morty’s mind. You can’t take Rick’s awesomeness for granite! ;)
Mel is right. Oh, no, “jokes that not only mock, but occasionally invoke, harmful stereotypes!”
Re: Rorsharch, I never quite got why if people are going to idolize an anti-hero from Watchmen, Rorsharch became the popular choice vs. Ozymandias.
Wait, I’m not supposed to like Rorschach? Fuck, thanks for the heads up.
