@5h17h34d: dig412 is exactly right. The reason you probably haven't seen this in most of your 15 years of building is that we have only recently started approaching the 4gb limit for 32-bit x86 systems. And it's been exacerbated by the rising memory capacity in graphics cards in recent years.

@nka: the [www.win741.com] site offers you the choice of home Premium or Professional. It's in their FAQ. After you register, in the email they send you, there is a link for if you want the Pro version instead.
While I still use iGoogle as my homepage, when I need to search I just use Ctrl-K in Firefox.
