Depends on price and usage model. Autonomous vehicles open up a path to vehicles as services. Actually owning a car (as opposed to using them like public transit) could become uncommon in the future.

Personally, I think Toyota needs to drop a Lexus 2UR engine into this. It’s not an inline 6 butttt it’s a badass Toyota engine. If it doesn’t fit then goddammit make it fit.
I was starting to like the design, but now ...why are all of them fake?! Honestly, they really look like they actually be functional vents but they aren’t. That pisses me off more than if they just made fake vents that clearly don’t do anything.
There’s no way this vehicle was going to be highly-produced or affordable in the first place. It’s the first vehicle from a startup, and it’s a luxury SUV/Truck.
No way in hell is: a luxobarge SUV/Truck going to be affordable; a startup going to mass produce decent high-range electric vehicles. At least they got a factory (and everything else) ready.
Man they got the casting so goddamn right for this movie. Ivo and Vector literally look perfect to me. Alita is changed from big lips to big eyes but I do like how she’s intentionally artificial looking compared to the rest of the humans.
5 bucks VW will reintroduce the Beetle soon after they get their electric powertrains into high volume production. 10 bucks says their tagline contains “The Electric Bug” in it.
I loved everything else about this season but did anyone find the sound/foley kinda weak? I felt like hits were missing some impact (more bassy thumps needed) and there was overall not enough non-verbal vocalization (screams, grunts, yells, etc.).
GM EV-1 or the Citroen DS updated with new powertrains and lights.
The large majority of a vehicle’s emissions impact is in operation over its lifespan. Electric cars may cost slightly more environmental impact for initial production, but over 10 years the impact is minimal compared to gasoline powered cars since they don’t emit anything during operation. Body and battery chemistry…
Electric cars are essential to the solution. They allow us to transition away from using fossil fuels as the sole power source for our vehicles. Gas powered cars can’t be run off hydro/nuclear power/solar energy/wind power.
Kinda unrelated, but I would be very interested to see someone heavily modify the Supra to drop a Taycan powertrain into it.
So they have had all this time to make a non-production-focused concept they HOPE to get into production 3 YEARS down the line? What the hell have they been doing with all the stuff they learned from the i3 and i8? Why are they so late to a second generation i-Series lineup? How is Audi and Jaguar beating them to…
People are upset because not only is this a big and expensive model, it isn’t even coming out until 2019 at the earliest. Its range, performance, charging speed, and utility is surpassed by both its immediate competition (Tesla Model X, Audi e-Tron, Jaguar i-Pace) and by lower segment cars like the Chevy Bolt and…
I’m aware of solid state batteries but they’re not expected to come in volume until the early 2020s. I’m very excited for the tech.
It’s far easier at the moment to solve this problem by increasing battery capacity. The charge gets distributed across all cells so the more you have the faster you can charge. Not to say this won’t be solved in the future.
I love seeing minivans like those on the road when visiting Japan and HK! I’d happily own a modern Previa over here in Canada.
They got a new round of funding or some new investor/buyer. Whether they’ll actually have a product on the road is up in the air.
Really sad that this isn’t coming over to North America. I loved Ford’s hot hatches. Always thought they looked the best.
The set may function and play well but I’ll be damned if I called that a Batmobile. Podgy Batmobile, maybe.
