Yep. Same issue on my 86 xj. Loctite is your friend here. Also they wouldn’t come loose so often if people would stop using the steering wheel as a grab handle for getting in.

Taxes raised for one particular cause never go to that one thing. The gas tax was raised here in Iowa a few years back and yes there has been a bit more road construction but maybe 4 out of the 10 cents it was raised actually goes to infrastructure.
