Sure, but those were silly little B-movies or tired franchise installments. This was supposed to launch a brand new franchise - and failed miserably. The Dark Universe was stillborn from the get-go.

That's what I mean. They fucked up Dracula. How do you do that? The single most popular monster/horror property for over a century. What hopes does the Mummy have when you can't even make a kickass Dracula movie?

I was walking in my city the other day (which I don't normally do, as I have a car) and it was humid and sticky and I got a full blast of exhaust from a bus at a stoplight and I had a sudden, almost painful burst of nostalgia for DC.

It's just an awful idea. And to try to start with the Mummy… Jesus, if you can't make Dracula or Frankenstein work, you should just give up before you even start.

Mission accomplished!

The "official" one, in which the question was actually asked, is below.

What is this… "creative vision"… of which you speak? The Dark Universe is founded upon $$$ and naught else.

Let's not say things we can't take back.

I did my patriotic duty by observing some fireworks last night.

I wish Variety would be able to ring the death knell for bad movies that the public knows well enough to stay away from, rather than blaming genres or styles.

Isn't that how we all do it? I mean, that's how I picture everyone…

Hell, I was going to do that anyway.

At the very tippity-top. Only the Pope has greater power.

It's just a guild position. Not any real power like a knight or a baron.

The pear dream?

Whoah, that's Sabrina's dad? Holy shit that's fucked up.

It was the 50s. What else were you going to do?

Holy shit this is some dark ass shit. I remember Harvey as the goofy love interest, not eating up on a dude and being all possessed and shit.

The Heirarchy of Hell is some goofy shit, I tell you what. But aristocracy (Lord) is always going to beat out the oligarchy (president).

I liked Queenie and Fogler and some of the animals. Ezra Miller did a good job, too.
