When I watched Help! as a kid, I never even made the connection that the goofy stereotypes were supposed to be Indians, since they were white people doing really off accents.
Quirkiness expands like the universe, always casting around for something that isn't already too familiar, then grinding it into the ground until it is. Eventually, I suppose, it will all dissipate in the Heat Death of the Quirkiverse, but that won't be until long after we're dead.
