I don't know what reviews you were reading, but the ones I saw made me want to avoid it at all costs. And I saw the third one in theaters (actually fairly entertaining, if nonsensical).

You take that back. The Argonath was a giant-ass miniature. PJ used to use physical effects whenever possible.

From his movies that I've seen, he seems very self indulgent, given to overusing the same visual and stylistic tropes, loooooves CGI, and has trouble handling dialogue scenes. And we had enough of all that in the prequels.

GrandPre is a master. Her style just fits Rowling's writing so perfectly: vivid and fanciful.

Dammit HDB, you're really making me want to pick up this series, but I just don't have the time!
