As someone who lives in Jersey and worked on Staten Island for a years, I always describe it as having the worst possible combination of New York Superiority Complex and New Jersey Inferiority Complex.

Swift also tends to front load her albums. Even so, "I Know Places" (track 12 of 13) is my favorite of both 1989s.

I'm just speculating, but I imagine that a joke made in context (Perette's demeanor, dress, and general atmosphere of a dog show) and with professional delivery would, yes, be funnier than a recap of that joke after the fact.

Re: Warmongering conspiracy, I get the sense that Clear Channel as a soulless behemoth is more "Better Off Ted" than "Mr. Robot."

Oh, I see here on your resume that your worked for two years at the AV Club on the "reposting John Oliver clips" beat.

Yeah like when they moved Lincoln's birthday to July. Wait, no they didn't!

I know this is a gimmick but it's actually the opposite! Organized labor hates Labor Day because it was created to make us forget about May Day.

This literally already happened. May Day was a perfectly good holiday to celebrate organized labor, but it also had the pesky tendency to inspire actual, honest-to-god uprisings, so the US Government created a Labor Day as a replacement. Now we get a day off work (well some of us do) without needing to think too hard

I can totally imagine an off-screen conversation between Forrest and Grant, with Forrest asking the show to pay for this (or any Review expenses) and Grant judo-ing the conversation to make Forrest think wasting his life savings was the more ethical choice, given the importance of his work. Completely in character

The AV Club…

Disagree. The exact lesson I took from the finale was that most of the island's problems stemmed from Jacob's fucked up system and people following it without question (Locke) or exploiting it (Ben) instead of questioning and changing it (Hurley). The real world takeaway is that even our most sacred institutions

So file this under… 'Games'? 'Books' maybe?

OK, I've completely lost the thread of what "bougie" means anymore.

Not when the headline "Bill Hader is Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s new precinct captain" shows up in my Twitter feed.

For real. I hate how every supporting part is casting news now. Can I never be surprised that someone is in something?

Ariana is like the opposite of a typical pop starlet in that she has a genuinely beautiful and powerful voice but she's absolutely terrible at being a famous person.

I love Spoon. I love Neutral Milk Hotel and and the New Pornographers. That new Sleater-Kinney album was the shit. But I fuckin LOVE Taylor Swift. It's possible!

"I Know Places" or GTFO.

I don't feel like re-watching the first episode, but if Mr. Robot is in Elliot's head, then how did he find their Coney Island hideout in the first place? Unless… he was already involved with them before the pilot and is being an especially unreliable narrator?
