I feel even more so about any performance-oriented vehicle. Like a used WRX, a Civic Si, or a GTI. I don’t trust the previous owner to not have driven it really hard, tuned it beyond limits, or done stupid shit - let me do that!

I would agree if the two systems were completely independent. As it stands, they are integrating now more than ever. I shouldn’t need to reboot my car!
Admittedly having an infotainment system that fails to connect or is slow to respond when asked could be an issue. It’s exacerbated particularly by the fact that some cars can’t even replace it because manus somehow deemed it acceptable to make the goddamn infotainment system an integral part of the cars operation. So…
Funny you say 5 years ago! That would have been 2014-2015, which makes perfect sense. I feel like those couple of years were all about “Ford is going to do super-awesome performance stuff!” 2015 was all about the RS, and how cool it was, and how they were looking forward to bringing this marque to the US, etc. They…
Yeah, as you are saying, I think in the larger scheme of things we’re a drop in the bucket. Someone else in the comments pointed out that the regular Focus wasn’t selling well, not the ST. The ST being just a fraction of the total means that the Focus line as a whole was losing, even if the ST was OK. Admittedly, I…
Don’t forget worse handling and no sports car seats
Some of us complaining *did* buy them brand new. I pre-ordered the RS and am quite happy with it. I was pulling for Ford and telling everyone how cool the Fiesta/Focus ST & RS are. Alas, no more - Ford can eat a dick. I was looking forward to possibly getting RS MK IV with all the right improvements (insert head…
+1 on the choice there. Where I live it gets mostly wet, and rarely if ever icy, so the PA4 are great. I was thinking of the rally unstudded tires they have. I doubt they would be better than any road tire for road driving, but I’m just curious what they’re like
Yeah, those points make sense. Of note, they do have an unstudded version of those tires too
Just for fun: suppose I was crazy enough to daily those as my winter tires, wonder how these compare to something like Michelin PA4. How would one even go bout buying them? I can’t find them through normal channels.
I haven’t seen “You,” but the article’s description definitely made me think of Bateman
Oh funny, I was just on the site the other day drooling over the manual option. Alas! It’ll be a long time before I can afford that expensive of a vehicle that also requires a primary vehicle to go with it (due to lack of space and seating) anyway
It’s OK. They’ve solved the problem going forward by not offering a Fiesta at all!
I get the same vibe. That grille opening immediately made me think of the GT-R
Ha! I believe it. Got the same kind of ticket in a stock Focus RS. Cops words: “Well, I’ve never heard a Focus sound like that.” It’s not my job to keep police officers informed of current vehicles on the market.
For real. I see disproportionately more excessively noisy motorcycles than I do cars. Yeah, there’s the occasional GT5.0 with straight pipes, sure, but most of the time I can’t hear myself think it’s a straight-piped Harley. Used to live at an intersection and the bastards would pull up to the light and just sit there…
Seconded. Having been ticketed for “aftermarket exhaust” in a stock Focus RS which of course got dropped once I provided proof from the dealership that the thing was not modified, I find the subjectivity of their “ear test” unacceptable.
I agree. Leather is very cold when it’s cold, hot when it’s hot out, and slidy when turning.
The all new “Ford Expedition ST RS GT!”
Focus RS owner here. I second this comment. No Focus (or otherwise compact), no Ford for me. They need to stop sending me “hey, we heard you have a Ford, you should get our SUV” mailers.
