“There's a lot happening" is a really crappy and insensitive way to frame an article about Jessica Simpson being sexually abused as a child.

Don’t piss off librarians. You will live to regret it.

Im always in the greys, but as a current museum studies student who helped unionize the last museum I worked at, I feel like the target audience for this article.

Government support, like the best majority of museums in Europe, and a weaker board. While not all board members are the super wealthy looking to further their own influence at the expense of others, many are. Power needs to be more balanced between a board and people who actually work in the museum, ideally a

Bringing a child to a fertility clinic is massively insensitive.

Relationships are work, though. Not all work is paid, nor does it necessarily make sense to change that. But they are work, and they do involve labor. Being there for someone to rant to, providing them emotional support and/or advise, scheduling future get-togethers, figuring out how to communicate with different

Watcher in the Woods needs to show up, too.

My daughter is just on the cusp of being the right age for YA fiction. I’m looking forward to keeping a list of these authors so I can steer my kid away from them. I don’t want to put one cent of profit into the pockets of ”successful”women who would treat anyone like this - especially a young woman who is clearly

I rarely read YA and made a note of all these names to make sure I never touch any of theirs. Excellent repping of their genre. A+.

I haven’t read any books by Dessen or any of the female YA authors listed. Now I will never read their books. Congrats ladies. Who’s the “fucking bitch” now?

She didn’t join the committee to prevent anyone from being exposed to it, she joined the committee because she didn’t think that Dessen’s work, which was apparently under consideration, was up to the standards of what the program was supposed to be. How is that an issue that she had a particularly strong opinion about

That’s the problem with the current obsession with STEM; it implicitly devalues other ‘less useful’ (taken from the fact that people are less willing to pay you for it) majors/degrees. As you noted, women are under-represented in STEM fields but over-represented in things like primary education and community/human

at a guess i’d say they don’t trust Warren on the basis that she hasn’t given any indication that she would be anything other than a status quo president when it comes to foreign policy and the military, whereas Bernie has always been vocally opposed to the military industrial complex (though how that would translate

I haven’t looked into this, but my gut tells me that “plant-based” does not necessarily mean “healthier”,  just as “fat-free” doesn’t mean the food isn’t loaded with salt and sugar. That being said, plant-based food has the marketing advantage in being cholesterol free.

I hate Uber, but the cab industry also did that to themselves by providing the absolute minimum level of customer service (if that) and refusing to change.

Guyger confirmed she had intended to kill Jean

Because when the kid turns 18, they are able to use these services without asking mom. The agreement is with the mother, not the child, even though this decision affects them. And what about the child’s children? It’s unrealistic to expect the agreement to stand across generations.

In addition to the other works mentioned, there’s a somewhat obscure (except to Lit majors) Victorian novel called The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins. It’s simultaneously a really creepy gothic ghost story/mystery and an even more creepy snapshot of bizarre Victorian-era madonna-whore issues around female identity.

What gets me is that there is a Royal who has convorted with an actual pedophile and may have done so himself, but yes, let’s have two embittered women snipe about Meghan “I glow with happiness’ Markle.
