Interesting to note that Incorruptibility (seeming lack of deceaced’s decay) is used as one of the three miracles to qualify a person for sainthood in the Roman Catholic Church. Which I think is now mostly reasoned to be this process of saponification, so that the body does not seem to decay.

It looks little different from my own underclothing

Color palettes tend to suffuse out from fashion into interior and ad design, and become almost pervasive. For example, when I think of the late 70s, I immediately think of avocado, goldenrod, and dark brown.

I think unmarried vs married may be a bit of false trail. That is, I think the greatest difference may be/has been between unmarried women with no children and married women with children. Traditionally, married women with children were more involved politically on behalf of their children. They got involved in

Thinking about a society in which there is a greater number of people period who have no children is interesting. And I mean aside from Science-Fiction “Children of Men” type stuff (though also superduper interesting). The types of politics people (married or unmarried, male or female) have with children vs. children

I mean...he’s unwell isn’t he? Right?

Human females. We are just so mysterious. Such ~misssstereeeee~

Apparently it took a few years for people to figure out the composition in the picture of him as lil’ Mozart was a real piece. Loooooong lecture here but a musicologist goes into that and other Mozart tid bits here:

Yeah, after thinking about it a bit, personal body odor was probably the least offensive thing wafting around in a time when bodily fluids and other refuse were thrown into the street

They used alot of agents and techniques similar to dry shampoo. While it certainly varied from period to period and certainly from person to person, some dried herbs sprinkled in with a good boar brush or comb probably actually came very close to clean hair.

I bet they did. While people may have been less concerned with body odor, there is severe physical discomfort associated with dirty skin. It causes rashes and sores and was surely a direct enough correlation that people would have rubbed themselves down enough to minimize dirt and old skin sitting around on them.

Whether they would have been able to afford multiple changes of underthings and whether they would have laundered frequently still seem to be undecided.

I’ve always listened to Kanye’s music, but never watched any interviews or followed him on social media at all. As regards his lyrics, for better or worse, there is a lot of dissonance you can have when all you do is pay attention to the artist’s work.

yeah that. Maybe she hangs toe shoes filled with potpourri around? Like fuzzy dice on a rearview mirror? idk

Lady puts her money where her mouth is and bought a whole damned castle. If I recall though, this did not end well. The dream died as the repair and upkeep on something like that was a huge drain on her personal finances. If I recall.

Damn. Its hard to grow dismissive of Jezebel (while, don’t get me wrong, consuming it like a box of Cheese-Its) when every now and then a post like this comes out.

“It belongs in a museum!”

I heartily approve of their consideration to taxidermy the mouse and make it a part of the exhibit of the mousetrap. That brave soul now belongs to the ages.

We live in a consumer society. Consumer ‘values’ likely ultimately (eventually) outweigh any perceived value in traditional gender-typed behavior. They are increasingly marketed at too. I’ve read alot of articles about men’s grooming increasing, but I bet there is a larger trend of all men’s fashion-y things booming

Wonder too if its because women shop at more ‘fast-fashion’ places. So while women may spend more time shopping, both in frequency and length (I always get into deep convos with my friends while shopping because you aren’t necessarily making eye-contact a lot...you find yourself just staring at a wall length display
