Yep exactly. I’m not saying every boss is poorly designed, but there are enough shitty fights that it’s noticeable and surprising. The Godskin Duo is an example of a fight that isn’t too hard, but the shared health bar and respawning of the bosses doesn’t make any sense and feels cheap. There’s nothing else like that

This game is very good. I think it takes the fromsoft souls formula two steps forward in terms of exploration (the jump button is a souls game-changer lol) but one giant step backward in terms of boss design. Some of these bosses, especially towards the end of the game are some of the worst designed since the original

I feel like most people taking on Fire Giant understand the strategy they should take but it’s those unlucky one shots due to bad design that ruin it for almost everyone. For real, just do a quick search on the many reddit threads on how annoyed people are with that boss lol.

Yeah he fuckin sucks and it’s a shame because he’s a cool looking boss. It took me about 2 hours or more to take him down. I eventually got to a point where I’d get to his second phase pretty easily but I kept dying during the second phase. You barely do ANY damage. On my last attempt, I tried the left trigger attack

lol I wish I had spent more time on the Mimic Tear before the patch. I used it twice and it got killed pretty quickly both times so I retired it. But I also have neglected to upgrade those summoning powers as well. To avoid spoilers, I’ve not looked up the crazy OP strategies but now I feel like I’ve missed out on

I’m up to the region after Lyndell and man, you’ll miss the enemies from Limgrave by then. Lyndell in particular is full of tough enemies. I’m level 100 and still feel underpowered against some of these guys.

    March 25th.

Yep. I liked the first demo that was released over the summer for the most part but there’s no way I’ll get to a souls-like anytime soon. I’m 80 hours deep in Elden Ring and probably 20 away from finishing it. Then I’ll make time for the Horizon sequel. I’m all about this when it hits $20-$30 though.

Agreed. His first phase isn’t bad if you’re well equipped but his second phase is unfair with the homing boulders. Took me about 2 hours to finally kill him. It’s a shitty and cheap fight once you get past the epic theatrics of it. I love Fromsoft games but they could’ve tweaked this particular encounter.

It’s a cool moment in the game with neat gimmicks but the fight kinda sucks to be honest. His homing boulders during the second phase of the fight are incredibly cheap and just instant death. The armor you can buy at the Round Table after beating him rules though.

Thank you. I won’t say no to a RE4 remake but the original game still holds up as far as older games from that era go and it can be played on basically every console still.

Dying Light came out in 2015, not 2018.

I got Strikers when it came out and despite being super excited about it initially, I stopped playing about 10 hours in. I just wasn’t into it and I love Persona 3 and 5. Couldn’t even really tell you why. Just got bored of it. Need to give it another shot at some point.

Thanks. I’m also looking for a site that is good about not including headlines or thumbnails that are full of spoilers but that’s difficult to come by.

I’ve been feeling this way for a couple of years now. Or whenever the mass exodus of writers started. I agree with the general stances/politics, but the writing has been so terrible with shoehorned opinions/politics and bad editing and the clickbait is worse than ever. I’m in search of another site for gaming news.

Right on the money about Astro’s Playroom. I played it for the first time last week after owning a PS5 since launch and I was kicking myself for not playing it sooner. Really fun experience and a super easy platinum trophy to boot if that’s your thing.

I got Psychonauts 2 during the sale. Gonna try to squeeze that in before the year ends.

Unless my reading comprehension is way off, one of your sentences doesn’t make sense. It came out on PS4 and Xbox One on November 2014, not 2013. The 2013 release date was for 2 generations ago.

    that’s fair!

It’s more surprising that Metroid is on this list. It’s more difficult than Resident Evil in my opinion.
