This. Not many people seem to appreciate fog as an atmosphere and depth creator. Many movies use fog in scenes where it wouldn’t normally be foggy (for instance, indoors on Titanic). It creates a certain depth and fullness to the scene and the viewer is likely unaware that it’s even present.
