By the grace of God I’m a successful black man married to a successful black woman coming from families with other successful black people. There are also others in our families who aren’t successful due to decisions that they made. That is a fact.

That system is dead. You can be whatever you want to be. You can do whatever you want to do. The only one who can stop you is you. 

When I moved to Iowa, I had to catch the short bus out to the middle of nowhere and then walk a couple of miles to the DMV to get a state ID. But I didn’t let that stop me. 

If you can find your way to college, I’m sure you’re smart enough to find a way to get a state id. Record voting turnout folks, and yet we still being suppressed. Give me a break. 

I’m confused. So when a black man doesn’t get his due, we complain. When a black man gets his due, we complain. Why can’t we just be happy? No one ever said he had to coach at Jackson State, but he did. He improved the program down there, and I’m sure he’s going to leave it in good hands.
