Nothing as long as you have good technique, which matters with all methods of sharpening.

That’s not a sharpener, it’s usually a ridged honing steel which is only meant to touch-up a slightly dull knife by straightening the bent over edge (which is the first thing that happens to a knife as it dulls). It won’t sharpen a really dull knife and you can’t touch up small nicks or chips with it.

Yea, that was my comment he was responding to. I called him out on it since he doesn’t show it or even reference it as you said.
