I bought (and still have) the soundtrack JUST for the Matthew Sweet song.

He sent along a New Ruins album (which I've had on non-stop rotation for a few years) and something from Diabase. Anyway, I checked out Overwhelmed—good stuff! Did you play guitar?
Sweet! I'll give a listen.
They're still around. Tim Lash said they're actually working on new material.
Which band, if I may ask?
I backed 1955 on Kickstarter (back in the early days of crowdfunding games), and even got my name on the side of the box! Too bad it's merely an OK game, especially compared to some of the other ones on the list here.
I really dig the album. No surprise, since I love anything Bachmann does, but the small changes (musical and lyrical) from the past few Crooked Fingers albums gives this record a really fresh vibe.
Same here. The first season's straight-up procedural episodes always reminded me (in a good way) of the Angel's case-of-the-week stuff from early on, which is a good thing. They're (usually) really enjoyable and have some nice tweaks on the typical network crime show formula.
I've not read Nemesis Games yet, but I'd rank them like this: AG, CB, CW, and LW. And I still love them all.
I feel like the weirdo, since Abaddon's Gate was (by far) my favorite of the first three. I'm halfway through Cibola Burn, though, and think it's fantastic. And it's quite different from Abaddon, too.
I'm reading Cibola Burn now and I had forgotten how much of a foul-mouth she is.
I'm pretty sure they're going to end the season with, well, you know what. So basically 2/3 of the way through Leviathan Wakes. (I think 2/3? It's been a few years since I've read it.)
Handlen: "'You’re either some kind of genius, Mr. Holden, or you’re the biggest dipshit in the universe.' Yeah, the jury’s still out on that one."
Yeah, that's my guess as well.
I believe Syfy renewed the show for a second season before the pilot even aired. So that's cool. Hopefully it picks up some more viewers via word of mouth.
I can see this, I guess. I don't think they ever give a real firm idea of how old he is, but I always thought he was in his mid-30s.
It's been a few years since I read the first novel in the series, but I think it worked the same way there too—Holden's crew were generic at first but eventually become pretty memorable. Now, Alex (the pilot) and Amos (the hardass) are my favorite characters in the book series.
Yeah, I think the screener pack had four, so all of the reviews are based off of that. I wonder if (or how) the reviews would change if people caught more.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Definitely. There's still some of the [possible spoiler] "these aliens are so alien that our minds can't figure out what's going on!" vibe that Stanislaw Lem did so well, but the creepy horror does take a backseat. As you said, it'll probably be back in the future.
