How can something be both cold and a burn?
Oh yeah - I am sure that the cat is just thrilled - thrilled a tell you! - to be doing this.
This show was like that show "Becker" that Ted Danson was on - it was around forever but I have never met anyone that actually watched it.
Actually… A cross between Ghostbusters and The Golden Girls might make for an entertaining show…
All I remember from her on SNL was a weird skit where she played a female neo-nazi (?) that was in an interview with a sorority friend and every now and then they'd break into a special silly chant… One of those flash memories from a time when I wasn't actually watching SNL but had it on one night.
I actually really liked that one. That and "Travels" which was one of his rare nonfiction books.
Yeah… But rather than Trek ripping off Dr Who from the 70's, I'd rather have seen them play with the idea of something infiltrating the Federation higher ups. Could have been a lot of fun… Actually, "Enterprise" might have had a lot of fun with that if they had done another storyline where they noticed it staring. Oh…
It's just not my style is all. It's a decent show and all, it's just a style of fantasy that I am not really fascinated by… It's that style where it isn't quite Conan and just primitive earth type stuff but also not quite Harry Potter and going completely into magic. Myself, I prefer the full on Harry Potter "Magic is…
Aliens like those depicted here? Probably not. Alien life on other planets somewhere in the vast universe? Almost certainly.
Well - yeah… You need the oracle. That goes way back - long before Crichton. Heck, even stories as low brow as "Friday the 13th" had that - the guy that shows up and predicts doom for those that are doomed.
"I read it, I just don't care to discuss that point."
Well, that's your decision. But I think my point in the original post does still stand - what might make for good TV might not make for good writing and vice versa. Do you have a comment on that or did you not read that far?
Because the people around me watch the show and I want to have some sort of tenuous idea what they are discussing.
"Perhaps the ultimate test for “Battle Of The Bastards” is this: If this were a chapter in Martin’s books instead of a visually stunning episode of television, would any of this work?"
Hmmm… For me it is a three way tie between "The Incredibles", "Up" and "Wall-E" - depending on my mood one or the other is my favorite on any day.
That's not luck. That is just… blah.
Crichton only had one real plot for most of his books :
I'm not actually a fan of Nolan's movies since I just don't care for his style. He's a decent director since he is able to tease out exactly what he wants in a movie, for sure…. So I am not saying he is a bad director. It's just that his tastes in what ought to be in a movie don't mesh with mine.
yeah… I mean, really it was exploring the same concepts as Bladerunner, but while the latter actually tried to grapple with the ideas in some sort of deeper manner, Westworld sort of glossed over it.
