That way you can make it to the Northern Barrens/Azshara or Dun Morough/Westfall invasions to get those first levels.

The level-scaling in this is quite different from CoH. In CoH you actually had to group with the person. This is differentiating the mobs level between random un-grouped people. But as others have said, no one is stating that WoW invented scaling.
