Thank you for defending the honor of that most beautiful and valiant creature, the “gamer.”

I find it hard to not like Trejo, who may not be a great actor but always lights up the screen a bit, always seems like he’s happy to be there - even now that his leathery hardassedness has softened into more of an avuncular schtick - but his prominent presence in a movie is a near-guarantee that it’s going to be

Don’t you dare.

Thanks so much for the mention and for highlighting this superb classic game!

Agreed on MGSV - it is absolutely phenomenal in its gameplay. I usually tend to be a bit obsessive about doing missions ‘right’ and sneaking all the way through, but with that game everything going horribly wrong and exploding into crazy shooting could often be just as fun (not always, but often enough).

Thank you, DL ^^. Truth be told, kid me got scared by all the random jump scare deaths in Colonel’s Bequest so much that I don’t think kid me would have minded missing out on it at the time. Still has a lot of personality to it, of course. But man, that randomness was so effective it gave me anxiety. Took me a few

I’m so glad this finally got released on GOG. I think I’m ready for it. (In the meantime I’m casually playing Broken Sword 5, perplexed by its leniency)

Everything Merve said, plus this: it’s totally a transcendent experience! You will not be disappointed!

I think that the “malfunctioning star button deducts from recommends when clicked on” feature of Kinja is only experienced by the clicker: you can click again and again, reducing a person’s recommends to 0, and it will not result in any actual change to the number of recommends the post has!

Yeeeeah, play Nier: Automata! I and a few other people here are just playing through it now (spurred on, no doubt, by the recent sale) and it would be fun to chat about the game. There is a lot to talk about, I’m sure.

It’s definitely a very very simplistic and rudimentary version of a lot of the concepts much more exemplified in The Sexy Brutale. Despite the random elements here and there it’s still all a linear narrative, and the history of the characters and said world is far from layered or extensive. But it has a lot more

I will be continuing the grind of Destiny 2. I got to try the raid for the first time with a couple Gameological folks. We got through the first room in 15 minutes and stalled in the Gardens. We got the mechanics down, but tried rushing and got sloppy. Overall, we were way more successful than I thought we would’ve

It’s great you’re into MGSV so much /cheer. It really does have so many blessed elements in its unique open world design. All the variant ways you can upgrade and utilize different items in any infiltration approach you want. Tomes can be written on how to take down a fort with just an arsenal of boxes and fultons

I’m glad you’re enjoying Sleeping Dogs so much! And what a great and unique soundtrack too, right? Such a well developed environment with its Hong Kong locale. Sleeping Dogs is not perfect but it’s really something special, and it didn’t HAVE to be that way to be playable or make due.

Yep yep! I saw that news today! Great great news! So happy for Yoko Taro. He and his core design team as well as everyone at PlatinumGames too deserve all the recognition they can get. They worked so hard and it shows in every component of that game, from its music to its story to its item histories. I hope this

Salutations!~

Good news! There’s a good chance they’re making another NieR game. I never in a million years would have expected it, but Automata actually sold over 2 million copies. I can see why Squeenix wants to continue being in the Yoko Taro business now that he’s received mainstream recognition as a talented game director.

Funny you should mention D&D, because my group have started playing again, a new campaign, or rather the followup to the previous one. I’m documenting it properly over on my own website, which is just about barely functional at this point, but I hope you find it of interest:

You really should play NieR:Automata as soon as you can. I don’t want to sell it as some sort of transcendent experience - I think that has resulted in disappointment for some players - but I will say that it’s one of the most fascinating games I’ve ever played. It uses its structure and the unique possibilities that
