I wrote a recent paper on the why Gone Girl was such a hit, despite the intense unlikeability of the two main characters. I referenced a Jezebel post called “Let’s talk about Gone Girl,” specifically referencing the discussion thread on Amy’s Cool Girl speech because it is a narrative attempt to justify her actions

Don’t know if you’ve read Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series, but it takes meandering and senseless characters and plot points to a whole new level, especially after Brandon Sanderson took over. I hate-read the last three books.

Special education teacher in 8th grade? Been a long time since then...

No matter what he did, he would always live with a parent’s guilt of not being able to protect your child from monsters like this. Any parent should feel this, even the thought that my child could be put in harm’s way and I couldn’t stop it, chills me. I applaud him, wholeheartedly.

That man’s son would never have to live in fear that his predator would return or haunt him for the rest of his life. This father made the ultimate sacrifice, not in vengeance, but in justice and to protect his child. There is no vengeance in this case: he could never recoup the loss to his son’s innocence or psyche.

That was an act of pure love...no matter the cost, his child would not live in fear of his predator. I can’t fault it, no matter what ethical values we pretend to cling to in this country, for our so-called justice.

Agreed, on all points.

Too late. There’s already a wall and we are paying for it. But his wall will be so luxurious, it’ll be fantastic, just great....

As a mother to an adopted daughter, I couldn’t agree more with your position. People often say “you’re so great for doing this” (meaning adopting her from the situation she was born into, which I won’t detail)...but my response is, “she blessed us; we’re the lucky ones.”

LOL. Good one. Woman, you do your mean, spiteful self. If it’s advocacy that drives you, probably not getting the results you want, but if it’s entertainment you’re hoping for, then job well done.

You’re very angry. And offensive. It doesn’t reflect well on your candidate, that you take any reasonable criticism and blow up with vulgarity and crassness. If you are the model HRC supporter, boo fucking hoo indeed!

4) the wtf look is in reaction to the acrid smell of slop sweat emanating from his pits.

Follow up thought: does flop sweat show up in photos?

I knew it! :)

If you are man on Jezebel, you are doing a better job articulating the feminist critique of HRC and why Palin’s VP candidacy stands as analogous to Clinton’s vis a vis both using the “first woman” position to differentiate themselves in the field, then I say, as a born

So much truth in this post. Brava!

Annoyed why? It’s true. Is HRC’s strategy now to play the affirmative action card?

Gotta believe it was a desperation move, too. Once the nomination began to look iffy, her campaign has been trying everything to change the conversation. But how stupid...it’s entirely because women have been fighting for equality ON THE SAME LEVEL as men that makes us not want to be singled out because we’re

Lol. Duh. How much do social media campaign managers make, anyway?

The comment I was looking for, and am glad I found. He is quoting someone else, so...?
