Yeah, I was very happy to see Crystal Logic mentioned here. I came to that album much too late (just this year, actually), and I played it nearly everyday for a couple weeks. Pure heavy metal excellence. Manilla Road's new album ain't too shabby either.

Cool, I was just asking because the restoration is also featured on Hulu as part of that World Cinema Foundation series.

That sounds great. My (American) 6th grade French class watched The Little Prince, which was pretty good, too.

I love Ottobar. It's one of my favorite venues in the country. I live in DC, so I don't get there as often as I'd like to, but it's always a good time when I do. My girlfriend and I perched ourselves on the balcony area, which gave us a pretty great view of the wild circle pit and cake throwing below.

You should definitely see Power Trip. They put on a hell of a show. Who are they playing with? It was pretty great seeing them with Municipal Waste.

Jeez, this is turning into a repeat of the week I had the temerity to post something negative about Troop Beverly Hills, and that's all anyone wanted to talk about.

I did like the part where Carmen Electra fell on her butt, and Ed shouted, "Don't worry, everyone! Her butt is okay!" (or words to that effect).

As you can see below, I watched Good Burger this weekend, and one of the odder facts about that movie is that Stewart Copeland did the score.

Yeah, I felt the same way about Oblivion. It is absurdly derivative in its plotting/characters/ideas but the visuals are pretty awesome and even occasionally feature a modicum of originality.

I'm hoping to watch The Housemaid this week. I'm also really excited for Dry Summer, which I tried to watch on Youtube once, but the quality was terrible.

I didn't really expect it to be good, but I at least expected it to be entertaining in a silly, 90s kids movie kind of way. But it somehow manages to be both over-the-top and sleepy at the same time.

FRIDAY
Thrash show at Ottobar featuring Full of Hell, Power Trip, Noisem, Municipal Waste, and Ringworm - Best show I’ve been to in quite a while. I’m a big fan of Power Trip, and they just nailed it. Their brand of hellish, barely controlled chaos kills live. And Municipal Waste’s set featured a cake-eating contest

Just adding on here, I don't know that much about Will Oldham as a person. I don't know his career backwards and forwards either, but I really like some of his stuff (Viva Last Blues and I See a Darkness, especially). But Modell is very vague about what the deal is here.

@eric827:disqus "My Deadhead Father" is a memoir just waiting to be written.

Now he lies naked, exposed, like fine rock and roll.

Haha, okay. Whatever, man.

From an interview with the TT dude:

Can you provide a source for this 3,000 rule? Because I don't think you're right about that. It wouldn't even make sense, since most of the titles TT releases have already been released on home video (Sleepless in Seattle, for example) and have presumably sold more than 1 copy.

Yeah, the only difference between Bukowski's prose and his poetry is line breaks.

I read one of his lesser-known and little-loved books called Politika. It came bundled with a Risk-like video game that was about various factions fighting for control of Russia in the wake of the downfall of the Soviet Union. I think I got this at a dollar store.
