Utopia is in this boxed set: http://www.amazon.com/Crosb… I got it for my girlfriend for Christmas because I had shown her Bali, and she loved it.

Serious about aggressively hetero male gazin'.

There's a lot I've yet to see (particularly looking forward to Like Someone in Love and You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet). My favorite movies of the year I saw at festivals/special screenings, so they haven't had a full release yet. Here's my top 11 so far:

I enjoyed how Tompkins-as-Herzog consistently referred to the group as "The Grown-Ups."

I wondered the same. Fortunately, Werner Herzog promises Schneider will be in Grown Ups 3.

Little-known fact: This is the second shortest bible verse.

I would totally do that! Are you as grumpy as Thom Andersen?

"Bleak," to me, implies hopelessness. And this movie is anything but hopeless. Rosetta is bursting at the seams with hope. And not even hope, really, but a kind of certainty in herself and her ability to secure a job and forge a life for herself. The single most indelible image of the film is Rosetta writhing on the

Ehh, it's similar, but nastier and more malevolent and with better effects than most Troma movies. The style actually reminds me of Henenlotter as much as Kaufman. Not sure who's acting like it's classier, though.

Fuck yeah, Street Trash on Blu-Ray! Gonna get me a six-pack of Viper and melt the fuck out!

There were some pretty good songs on those pre-Smash records (which I know primarily from those $2 Nitro Records comps). "Tehran" and "Beheaded" stand out in my mind as being particularly decent.

What is the deal with "Cumbersome" around here? I feel like that song gets mentioned in the comments on a daily basis.

Has anyone ever disputed that "Outshined" is an awesome song?

Cobain reused the intro riff to his massive breakout hit as the intro riff for a song called "Rape Me." That's tortured angst delivered with a wink, if anything ever was.

I saw a double feature of the Godfathers at Film Forum when they did the most recent restoration of the prints. It's a long time to be in a theater but well worth it, especially if you've never seen them.
