I'm imagining Godzilla meets Blood Freak … and I LOVE it!

Torture Ship sounds really cool. Kind of like Island of Lost Souls, but on a ship instead of an island.
I talked about Scoop (which is fantastic!) in my own post, but I'll mention that I've started reading Kate Beaton's wonderful collection of historically-themed comic strips Hark! A Vagrant on the toilet, and I like it so much that I always want to read one more, and before I know it, my legs are numb.
Generation P played at a film festival in St. Louis last year, and I was all pumped to go, and then something came up, and I couldn't (none of which is interesting). But it sounds like I may have to check it out.
Weird, I talked about Brooker in my post. I'm planning to watch the new series of Black Mirror this week.
Wow, that's really great that you literally pumped life back into a dying man, but what did you think about Jennifer Lawrence falling on her face at the Oscars??
FRIDAY
Africa, I Will Fleece You - Phenomenal Cameroonian documentary/essay film expounding on Cameroon's history, focusing especially on intellectualism. In a great segment, it shows how parts of Cameroon developed writing prior to white colonialism. The Germans then helped set up schools to teach writing, but soon…
Some local bands - The Sniffs (garage punk), Wall of Sleep (psych-rock/doom), and Akris (doom).
I'm a little torn on this. Because, in one sense, the movie is pretty brutal in its depiction of slavery, and we have had a dearth of images of slavery in our culture. I agree, actually. But with its "objective" approach and claims of first-hand reportage, it's setting up questions in the audience whether it means to or not.
This is my problem with Zero Dark Thirty. By (incorrectly) suggesting that the torture program led to useful information, it sets up exactly the wrong question about torture, i.e., Was it worth it?
Yeah, that Rolling Stone article is classic. Robert Mitchum: the drunkest man in the room. Always.
And that was Boyle's idea! Mel didn't even want to do it.
Joel Silver and whoever sold him coke both had a very good 80s.
The Hot Rock!
My favorite band name of the "The Qualifed Nouns" variety is definitely The Fucking Champs.
Albert Brooks the Squeakquel?
More like FalseRumorsDotColumbine.
My good friend appeared in this episode, and his line ("We have a ravioli bar?!") even got quoted in Claire's review!!! I'm swelling with pride! Keep a look out for this kid in an upcoming Buffalo Wild Wings commercial. And if you'd like to see his early work, check him out opposite George Clooney in 3 seconds of Up…
That's awful! Seeing 2001 in 70mm is #2 on my cinematic dream list.
