On the rare occasions when I motivate myself to work out, listening to "Half Idiot" at full volume is the only thing that makes it tolerable.

There was a whole article about Dr. Oz in the New Yorker recently that basically concluded, "fuck Dr. Oz for essentially this reason. He lets totally disreputable, dangerous idiots on his show and never even feigns at challenging their bullshit.

As is getting Jello Biafra to (presumably) do a Bryan Ferry impression.

WHERE'S LEIF GARRETT?

Butt-ugly? Surely not talking about the Israeli Donnie Osmond in the white onesie!

The most depressing thing about that movie — which I've seen, God help me— is that Charles Grodin is in it. Talk about a beloved comic actor who needs to choose better roles!

Portia went on to become America's most beloved lesbian housewife.

I was also fairly underwhelmed by Breathless when I first saw it.  But whether you (meaning, I guess, @avclub-f121d09285898f1c66d66f1e6f0455a6:disqus ) love it, hate it, or are completely indifferent to it, I recommend pressing on with some more Godard because his career spans multitudes.

I think if your favorite Godard is Contempt, then you may be a candidate for his post-60s work. Contempt was the only Godard I really loved until I saw Tout va Bien and Film Socialisme (with the "Navajo" subtitles no less), and, like Washington, I became one of those annoying people who generally prefers later Godard.

I'll definitely check that out.

Bring back The Assistant!

FDA, actually. in the Center for Tobacco Products.

I like to watch the watcher who likes to be watched watching.

True, but I get the feeling you wanted to be caught.

@LurkyMcLurkerson:disqus Ah, so you're the one who's been lurking outside my bedroom window!

Agreed with Burl. One of the very, very few novels to make me literally laugh out loud (or "llol"). Ha ha!, indeed.

"Says one one anymore, ever"

Wow, it's sounds like going sober is a very good choice. Congrats on the progress!

I doubt I'll keep watching it. If I do, it will mostly be in a so-bad-and-trashy-it's-entertaining kind of way.

Yeah, I also meant to read Stoner by John Williams, but I didn't get around to it.
