An existentialist survivalist-horror movie about Liam Neeson fighting wolves in the Arctic? What's not to love!
I really, really liked The Grey, and I have a feeling a second viewing would move it up a few notches on my list.

Yeah, it's a great film. I love the way Trier directs each of the encounters slightly differently, to reflect their differing impacts on Anders. And Anders Lie's lead performance is absolutely one of the best of the year.

The Master, as I saw it, is essentially an anti-psychological character study, which may seem kind of paradoxical, but there it is. A lot of people seemed to find it directionless, which makes sense, because it kind of is. But that's the point. We're watching these characters — one a perpetual performer, the other a

I love that Pallbearer record, but I wouldn't say it's great because it's particularly original. Pallbearer's sound is quite similar to Warning, a band I adore, but I have to say, Sorrow and Extinction out-Warninged Warning. It's just epic, soaring doom of the highest order. I'm

Lots of good shit here, in the article and in the comments. I'll just throw out some things I liked that (I think) have not yet been mentioned:
