I’m not sure how much is reluctance, and how much is just a disinterest in treading the same ground. I mean, we talk about them reusing properties - not without reason; they absolutely do - but they do just like to come up with a lot of ideas they really like and are happy to just stop after a while. It’s like with

Knack, like a lot of weird tech demo games, morbidly fascinates me. At least from afar (I’ve not played it yet), it seems so perfunctory, and really forced in how it tries to be whimsical. It’s like Ryse: Son of Rome (remember that one?), just so obviously ticking off the boxes in the “new, super-powerful console

Thanks! And it looks like it’s local wireless only for the Virtual Console games. To be honest, I’m not really surprised or disappointed - that would’ve required at least a fair bit more tinkering in the emulation, even if they set it up so that only friends could trade.

So, uh, yeah; Prey’s really good, isn’t it? To be honest, I haven’t played it since this weekend, and I’ve only just made it back into hearing the full message from my Morgan (and by extension, no psychic powers so far). The sound is especially great, and I love its world building - even if it’s nuts that its version

Fuck; you are totally right that they’re basically worse versions of the Witch of Hemwick (I should also note I’ve seen all-boss playthroughs of the game, and in general I’m not really averse to spoilers in the Souls games. That’s how I learned about the Chime Maidens with the One Reborn!). While I use the Saw Cleaver

Well, on that note...I guess you and I will probably be talking about it next week. Though we’ll need to find a way to do so on here sans a spoiler tag.

Aside from Derrick’s answer, I’d probably go with the collective Achievement names in Mass Effect 3. I like the idea of Achievements using names that are a bit obtuse until you actually achieve them, which I think is more interesting than just blocking out or censoring the name, and 3 does that a bit. You don’t get

I’m actually not talking about the Winter Lanterns (who I did find incredibly tough during my trek through the Nightmare Frontier), - I mean the guys with tentacle faces in the Upper Cathedral Ward. I found one easy one in the Lower Ward, and one incredibly frustrating one at the far edge of Byrgenwerth, before seeing

One of the things that makes Limbo work as well as it does (and I haven’t played Inside yet, so I can’t speak for it) is an interesting kind of thematic continuity. You start out in a purely natural environment, with these grotesque insects and animals. There are barely any sharp edges, all murky, weed-covered curves.

Let’s talk about Bloodborne’s Brainsuckers. So these enemies are very strong; their swipes can take chunks of your health. They have a move where they grab you, suck out most of your health and steal a couple of your precious Insight points, and then throw you to the ground with little time to reposition yourself.

Just the one that makes the whole thing monochrome. Normally it’d be a purple shade due to the dragon’s scales and grey stonework, but the dragon was just starting one of its attacks, so the red color took over the screen and set off the filter’s color palette.

Both are from Mario Odyssey - that’s the Ruined Dragon and samurai outfit.

Well then, since we’re in an embedding mood, let me thank you in the traditional GIF fashion:

I was gonna go with a GIF of the deadly mirror ball from Paper Mario: Color Splash, but I can’t find one - step up your game, internet. So instead, I’ll just go with the Shrunk Funk Shuffle.

Yeah; I’m not accepting your indirect self-put down. We all benefit each other here by our work, writing, and support. At least personally, I’ve found your writing to be smart and valuable, and I look forward to seeing more videos from you.

If Shameless Self-Promotion was bad in any way, I’d have been rode out of Gameological on a rail years ago. And it’s a nice video!

I really need to play more games; they’re generally helpful for my mood, and a combination of laziness, depression, and weird emergency work sessions has made it hard to work up much of any energy to do much. Generally, the one I’ve really played has been Fire Emblem Heroes, which is admittedly coming to a point of

I have been trying to post a response to this about difficulty, accessibility, and my own depression for upwards of an hour, and the page kept freezing, dying, and forcing me to start over whenever I would just scroll up to make sure I had a particular detail right. I joked about it on that Discord page already, but

But there are already plenty of games that fulfill that need of being immediately satisfying and rewarding - that’s the cornerstone of the entire video game industry. I don’t think it’s unacceptable by any means for one game among many to go out of its way to provide a distinct and new experience, even with the
