I’d vote for the late W124 Mercedes-Benz 500E - trucked back and forth across Stuttgart, Porsche did some of the redesign work and installed an M119 5 liter V8. On the outside, apart for some subtle clues for those in the know, it looks like a standard 300E

What I don’t get is that while I have heard how popular the Kia is (for some time!) one hears virtually nothing about its Hyundai sibling. Aren’t they virtually identical? What is the difference?

And of course these days giving the MSRP is virtually meaningless.

My current ‘96 R129 Mercedes-Benz SL 500. 2nd place, my ‘67 Camaro RS I had years ago. Both have lines that to me are good at any angle.

Why not proactively get a new battery every 5 years and don’t worry about hauling around a $140 jump starter? It’s amazing to me the people who will just keep a battery until it quits - in 5 years or 12 years. They usually quit at the most inconvenient places, and sometimes when they quit they are so far gone a jump

A few years ago my nephew was getting married at Banff and I was driving my rental car on the Trans Canadian highway - those Rocky Mtns are spectacular. I was shooting with my smart phone until someone told me if caught it was a $1200 fine.

“It’s more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow”

You think fines are bad in Norway? Try Finland. The Top Gear trio - on a recent Grand Tour - were saying they base the fine on your income. A businessman in Finland was recently fined $116,000 for speeding.

Back to Norway: It amazes me that a country awash ion oil taxes everything to oblivion - and a Norwegian friend

I had a 1st gen MR2 for 27 years - it never failed to put a smile on my face.

With the realization that cars generally get killed off because of lack of sales, my vote goes to the Pontiac Fiero. (assuming Pontiac was still a brand). GM finally got the quirks out, then they killed it.

I have only attend one F1 GP, and it was while I was in the Army in Germany in 1973. And it was at the Nürburgring, and holds a special memory. The German bus driver could not find the entrance to the grandstands at the massive track, and with 20 minutes to start said to us “just pick a spot along the track and

I had a first gen, which this 3rd gen is based on, and had it for 27 years because it was so fun to drive.

We were just in a discussion about speedbumps on another forum a few days ago. My belief is that they really don’t dissuade the jerks that will fly through a residential area at 60 mph; they just penalize those who already drive reasonably. But to put 2 large ones consecutively together? That is evil.

I generally

I was reading more on the Kia/Hyundai engine problems and hopefully a redesigned engine has come - seems the most economical (for them) way to replace is to swap engines.

I’m still mulling over that “competitor to the Corvette” statement...Still, nice looking car.

I’d have to see their official position. I know with speed bumps, a well meaning neighbor had petitions to send to the city - and now they are all over the neighborhood. Result - the same A-holes that would go 60 on a residential street slow it up a bit but the main people punished are the ones who wouldn’t speed

If you are specifically a “Chinook Collector” then yes otherwise there are better bargains to be had. Now to be the strangest Hilux

Didn’t the 944/924 have a VW origin like the 914? Maybe not an origin but a joint development?

I haven’t seen any of the discussion and although I never had one, I heard it said that the 944 is what the 924 should have been from the get-go. Maybe the 924S is the ultimate - had the 944 engine didn’t it?

I read years ago that in Australia the hotrodders celebrate the I6 with all kinds of mods.

I just posted the question if anyone had mentioned this? It is a legendary engine.
