Well, little ads in the back of magazines for some gizmo that connects to your fuel line. That kind of stuff has been around since the 1920s, and of course the only reason they aren’t more widespread is that the automakers don’t want you to get better mileage.

I had heard that the 300SLR coupe was to be the LeMans car for the 1956 season, which never came because after the disastrous accident at LeMans in 1955, the DB Board of Directors voted to p8ull out of racing, which they did until 1989.

The Toyota Hilux, of course. I remember in the 80s stripped versions were $5995.

No Pontiac Aztek? And what is a Segway doing among automotive flops?

Or a first gen NSX?

The owner probably lost 10's of thousands of dollars. And at a .15 cent margin, how long would it take him to make that up? Just as if someone drives off without paying.

I don’t know what state you are from, but I have never had that happen to me in CA. Most of the time, motorists and cyclists are courteous to each other.

You obviously haven’t heard of the 10% rule, have you?

What I will say will seem sacrilegious to many but 2 - a VW Beetle or a 1972 911 Porsche. Nothing wrong with the transmissions but the shifter - like shifting with a wet noodle.

My Dad had both a ‘65 Pontiac Bonneville and various Caddys from 1969 through 1977. One can say that rear legroom is subjective, but IMO they all fell short, the Pontiac being worse. Now if you are talking about a Fleetwood, with an even longer wheelbase, that rear legroom was almost like a limo.

I considered putting them on, as I think it is hilarious. But from the stn owner’s point of view, it is just vandalism against his property. And they don’t want to piss off any of their customers, Biden supporters included.

What cracked me up about those Detroit land yachts of the mid-1960s-early 70s was that the hood was like a runway, you could fit an elephant in the trunk, and very little rear legroom.

The W126 S Class of the 80s opened the floodgates? My money would be on the previous generation, the W116 of the 70s.

Porsche 911?

So how does this work with KBB? Are dealers bidding for it? I am facing this with my late fathers MB. I need 3 cars like I need a hole in the head.

That is what I have never understood. Unless the plane was down for very heavy maintenance, it’s not like they had no warning. One turbofan out? I am sure that empty it could have taken off on the other 5.

I don’t think it is so much needing a driver’s class - you know what it can do if you have a modicum of common sense and drive accordingly. He probably goosed the throttle on a city street and ....

Isn’t the diesel nozzle a bit wider than the gasoline filler’s to prevent that? Of course you could put gas in a diesel tank.

Reminds me of Sausalito, where there was (is?) a whole colony of floating barges that are homes right off shore.

I’d be willing to bet that the spare tire was severely underinflated. Hardly anyone checks those, much less the 4 on the road.

I would say by orders of magnitude Indy is far less expensive to campaign - with standardized engines and chassis...

I guess that eliminates drive in windows at the Taco Bell. How would you even make a normal left turn in that monster?
