Years ago I tore up my knee doing one last ski run down the mountain.

The world is full of them
When I first read this, I thought as others have said a nice gesture but completely over the top. The cart wasn’t damaged.
Then I talked with someone with a background in the car business who said with the C8 shortage the dealer can probably get near list for the “trade-in”.
So win-win.
In my neighborhood we have a lot of speed bumps. And the people that this is really directed to still ignore them. They just penalize the people who drive sanely.
I guess it depends on the city. I do know for the California Highway Patrol, it is a rigid, boot camp of 6 months at the Academy. With lots of physical, legal, driving and shooting classes.
I had a first generation (AW-11) Toyota MR2 for 27 years. Only sold it because I got another car and I couldn’t see having 3 cars. 115 hp, 1600 cc DOHC mid engine. It was like driving a big go-cart. Put a smile on my face every time.
Doesn’t it cost 100s of millions to field an F1 team in contention?
I admire your spirit of adventure, David. I have been worrying about taking my 20 year old Mercedes-Benz E430 (immaculately maintained) on a cross country trip next month. Am considering buying an extra fuel pump because where, in Virginia City, MT, are you going to find the proper Pierburg pump? But my shop friend…
It would have been nice in reading all of this to read a small succinct paragraph detailing what the case was all about. All I can discern is that there was “corruption” and a “conspiracy”
I was surprised it involved Wabasto, (I presume) a German company who made sunroofs for 50s Mercedes and VWs, for one. And hats off to Ford for stepping up and trying to make it right. Too many times I’ve seen defects in mechanical issues for cars (Porsche IMS bearing anyone?) and they don’t want to take…
Yes, this seems suspicious. Although I was there in 1986, they had am import tax that was over 100%. A Mercedes 190E that was $30,000 here was over $100,000 there.
Ever since the movie, I started studying the short history opf Shelby American. And what a history! I would divide it into 2 phases: 1962-1965 and 1966-1967.
Imagine in the first part designing a car (pretty much thanks to Phil Remington the fabricator and Ken Miles the tester), and in 1964 (or 5) winning the FIA…
Question: Where do you go to get this “Certified Man of the People” certification? Is there a lot of studying? ;-)
Funny you should mention this. I saw one in a lot yesterday and was wondering what I was looking at. It certainly doesn’t look anything like KIA.
You and me both.
Not a cop, just someone who is disgusted by the behavior of people these days. No indication this kid was autistic; and what were the parents doing in all this?
Sounds to me like the best thing is regrettably tow it out and scuttle it. A sad ending for both the Queen Mary and Elizabeth.
Can you imaginke flight attendants havinkg to prepare for this crap in the 50s though the 80s? The reason they duct tape them is because they can’t shoot them.
I have thought about this, and what was the criteria? Performance? Durability? Seems those are the only 2 you can have when offering a “best of”. For that reason, where does the old air cooled VW fit in? Had valves that were finicky and frequently broke. It’s simple and made in the millions.
I remember those things. The operating cost - of which the gallons of $6/gallon aviation gas is just a small part, would make todays luxo-bus look like a bargain.
