The title is “drift mode fail” - shouldn’t it be “driver fail”?
Doesn’t this guy belong in a “Cars and Coffee” video?
Was he a professional mechanic? He obviously bought quality
If California’s business climate didn’t stink, they could have had the Gigifactory right in the old GM complex they bought to build Teslas. They are only using about 15% of its space.
He is somewhere in between. I think the balance was typed when the driver almost ran him off the road.
The front end looks like a catfish
There’s a bunch of car companies going there now; I think though it was Daimler who started the trend in the late 80s/early 90s. That extreme heat is a perfect testing ground.
Daimler has tested their cars there at least since the early 90s. There is one hill - forget the percentage grade but it is steep - where they crawl up in extreme heat at 5mph or so for a mile or so. Really exposes any weaknesses to the head gasket or cooling system when it is 120. . Winder if the Baja Bug could pass…
“If a car doesn’t make you excited every time you climb inside, then it’s just a tool. And if it’s just a tool, you may as well use the bus”
For about 15-20 years I made an annual 1 day pilgrimage to the Historics. Then one memorable Sunday after having driven to Monterey and back (after staying all day) I had a club event at Tahoe - (I live in Sacramento) and I had to pull off the road and take a nap realizing “I can’t do this !@#$ anymore”.
The story is a local politician owned the land when they picked it in the latter part of the 1960s. All I know is they couldn’t have picked a worse place as they get fog from the river a lot more readily than other areas of Sacramento.
That’s more what I expected.
I used to go to the historics annually but driving there and back home in one day got to be a bit much. And staying in a motel - $800 or so for a 3 day stay (and most demand 3 days because they can get it).
A 1967 Camaro was my first car, bought in 1969. I still think the ‘67=’68 were the best looking Camaros....evah...
Sounds like you are one of the good guys in the car business Tom. On the Jag V6 I read a review of the new Mercedes SL and the reviewer said with the V6 is is perfectly fine. Plenty of power, and better balance.
I am at my local O’Reillys Auto Parts store and notice the glass wall is knocked out from the parking lot. Pme of the employees said that it is a regular occurrence there - people drive their cars in from the parking lot.
It is amazing what metallurgy and lubricants had done in the last 20 years. I can remember during the 50s and 60s an engine with 50,000 miles was looking at an overhaul.
