In my MB car club we have a member who is a tech at the local dealership. He’s a diesel fanatic having rebuilt from the ground up a W123 300TD - probably the best in the world. His other car is a 2014 GLK diesel. I asked him if he thought the newer tiny (2 liter) displacement-turbocharged engines would be as long

They are a collection of thousands of parts from the lowest bidders all flying in formation

Little work little elbow grease and it will be as good as new

When I was 18 - in 1968 - I lusted for a 2002. They were, I think, $300 more than the 1600.

The 917, and hopefully it wouldn’t kill me :-)

No big deal. I have the same problem ;-)

Remember what we called the Porsche 914 and the rest of the world - the VW-Porsche? IIRC it was made in Osnabruck.

For those of you were around LA up to the 90s and knew about the secret, you could go to Hermosa Beach to Vasek Polak’s small Porsche dealership on the PCH, walk in back behind the show room and see an amazing collection of Porsches from his racing days - 917s, 935s, probably a couple of dozen cars. I have a scanned

Take a look at a ‘67 Camaro vs a ‘68 - side markers (68) and lack of side window vents are one of the big differences.

See my above reply:-) I think you are right on the master cylinders, though

seatbelts weren’t mandatory until ‘67 or ‘68

Styling wise, to me the worst year was 1958 (showing my OF tendencies). So many iconic cars from 1957 and 1958, other than the new 4 seat T Bird - were styling dogs.

Man it is amazing at how far this story has traveled around the automotive blogs. And I would agree, why pile on Mike. You have a right to expect a minimal level of competence - and if they don’t know how to get to something maybe find out?

Even though he was smoking he can’t violate the laws of physics.

Probably - it’s been awhile :-)

BTW at Marfa or just outside they filmed a lot of the 1956 movie saga Giant, with Rock Hudson & Elizabeth Taylor. The ruins of the movie-set mansion are supposed to still be out there.

Well, I don’t know if this would even get an honorable mention but just outside Amarillo is the Cadillac Ranch. Looks eerie if you are on I10 at sunset.

Mercedes has changed the nomenclature so much that I, an enthusiast for many years, am lost. Used to be you knew exactly the body style by the letters and the engine by the numbers , but even that is missing now.

Ferrari V12 designed by Columbo and used for many years - with 6 Webers not only looks beautiful but sounds beautiful
