This is disgusting. I feel like this is the beginning of "The Handmaid's Tale".

You know she killed the leopard herself.
@kv8246: I would prefer parents selling toys as punishment as opposed to beating the crap out of their kids (which we also dealt with). It's non-violent AND works better. Win-win!
One of the more interesting days of my life working as an aftercare instructor was when I talked to a little boys Mom about the (against-school-rules) playing cards he brought in. Most of the time when you tell parents stuff like that they look at you blankly, randomly say "They won't do that again", and proceed as if…
@ChoirGrrl: People hold teachers to a higher standard. There was a story in the news last year about a teacher who got basically fired because someone posted a picture of her at a bachelorette party on FB. It wasn't the teachers account, she didn't even have a FB account but because it got out there she was basically…
@Keitha11: That is very depressing. So I'm sure it's true =(
@Sabriel: Oh my gosh I love your username!
I know it sounds crazy but I miss the old days! Everything was fresh, new and crazy exciting and now it seems that the world has realized they can make a quick buck off of geeks and stuff is just being put out there 'cos they know geeks will buy shit.
Right now my club is watching Eden of the East (which I've already watched and loved, loved, loved to DEATH!), My bride is a mermaid (eh. and we watch the dub which is BAD) and High School of the Dead which has tons of fanservice, but is actually well-written and has likeable characters. Have you watched BECK yet?…
Yeah I still hang out with my college anime club and I've definitely seen the change in viewership. Even less than 10 years ago it was easier to get together to watch stuff, now that you can download almost anything you want it seems like the 'magic is gone'. Also yeah fanboy-I'm-better-than-you syndrome pretty much…
I still remember the first time I saw anime on DVD. Before then DVD was just that thing I had to watch on a computer and the only fun thing about it was to watch Contact dubbed over in French. But when I realized you could get both Japanese AND English audio with FOUR WHOLE EPISODES on a DVD my life changed forever.…
Moe is the cancer that is killing anime. I used to have tons of series I watched to watch every new season and now I'm lucky if I see one anime that is orignal and looks good. We really don't need more harem/moe/tsundare/big-tittied/mecha animes!
I got a Vamplet last year at Dragon*Con. It's super cute, freaks my hubs out, and has yet to eat me. Pretty much a win!
This is why when I see kids at anime conventions who've never watched Akria or Eva I tend to cry. This is why I can't go to many anymore.
As an old school anime fan I just have to say "Thank You"!
I was looking at the model w/ the curly hair on his site and I was all: "Oh my gosh, she looks amazing and so natural and gorgeous, that's really good light photoshop!"
I find it interesting he said "slut" instead of "prostitute" or "hooker". Slut usually implies that a woman just likes sex for her own sake (still a horrible term), not that she's doing anything 'shameful' by selling herself out for sex in exchange for payment. So basically what he said is "don't be a woman who looks…
Except as a teacher it's not that easy. In my last teaching class before graduation we were told "it would be best" not to drink in the district you're teaching in, you have to actively seek out places outside of the school range to drink publicly in. Even then you have to be careful not to name anybody because "you…
It's always the manga kids (I say as a manga lover). They just grab a stack of Bleach or One Piece, a soda from the stand, and a friend and camp out like the apocalypse is coming. They make the rest of us look bad!
Yeah plenty of people who have 'nerdy' interests are fashionable, like fashion and makeup etc. Just because I've watched the new Star Trek movie a bllion times and attend weekly anime meetings doesn't mean I can't drool over MAC makeup or the new Betsy Johnson line.
