So it's every Disney princess film in under 3 minutes? Mother(father) "dies", girl has to face hardship (while wearing black flats), and in the end the girl learns an important lession about something, and happily-ever-after!

@OutlawDominus: I always heard he went off the pills at the end so they could use that money to pay for the end of the series. When I finally finished the whole series I had to call up my friend (an Eva "scholar") and have him explain the ending to me. I'm still not sure I get it though.

@HelenLovejoy(née_maude_flanders): I don't know if she chose the excerpt or not. Later on in the story, she does soften up to her kids, so maybe they thought that part wouldn't get noticed at much, or wouldn't incite so many people? Whoever did choose it sucks at PR though.

@AnotherJenn: THIS. I feel really bad for her, because the whole books was supposed to be about her softening up to her kids and they printed a really crappy excerpt which has kinda ruined her life.

@HelenLovejoy(née_maude_flanders): I think the column was an excerpt of the book (at least that was what was implied). They just chose a really shitty part of the book to promote first.

@Descarada: Those shoes always pinched my feet. I'd give my mom fits afterwards by climbing in trees with my fru-fru dresses and tights. That was about the only fun part of the day. =)
