“Brandt can’t watch, though - or he has to pay a hundred.”
you might look at army surplus places - if you don’t have one locally, the BudK website sells off stuff from all over the world and is worth checking out. while american military stuff is usually stupid expensive on their site, stuff from european countries can be a ridiculous bargain and a lot of it (not all) is made…
Paul Newman as Sidney J. Mussburger in The Hudsucker Proxy has to be one of my favorite supporting characters in their entire oeuvre - it’s been more than 25 years since I fell in love with that movie on contact (the first of their films I loved unreservedly right off... I didn’t quite “get” the tone of Raising…
not a meal but my wife made me some chocolate-covered licorice one year for my birthday back when we were dating. she hates the taste, even the smell of black licorice, so i can’t even imagine what that was like for her... i had been talking about how i fell in love with the taste on a trip to australia and a few…
man, I loved Milestone Comics. they keep talking about bringing ‘em back but nothing ever comes of it. Blood Syndicate was my favorite (and led me to Ivan Velez’s early work on Tales From the Closet) but Static, Icon and Rocket were all pretty great too.
if they do right by a few of the most popular characters (The Turtle, Machine Man, Rusty, Curveball, etc.), they should be just fine. personally, i’d like to see them cast mainly unknowns, with maybe a few aging or forgotten actors, instead of a bunch of stars and genre stalwarts.
there are also places where they’ll donate the meat to a local zoo or animal sanctuary with meat-eaters like wolves or big cats. i interviewed a guy whose job it was to pick up carcasses and i asked him about the various ways he disposed of them - the weirdest one he told me about was being contacted by a guy who appar…
i don’t know if Wisconsin still does this, but when i moved away in 2004, there had been a couple years of fairly successful and widespread “earn a buck” hunting programs, where you were required to take a doe before being eligible for a buck tag. on the assumption that most hunters didn’t want that much meat, the DNR…
i agree with everything in his sloppy doe recipe except the omission of molasses and fried green peppers. i mean, my wife is vegetarian so i can’t put bacon (or venison, for that matter) in the ones i make for her but otherwise, yeah, that’s pretty much the stuff.
Old Dutch are the still the best potato chips.
pretty much everything i know about St. Petersburg comes from reading the work of Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist Lane Degregory, who is very good.
costumes, too!
troubling and the last paragraph pretty much sums it up: if democrats aren’t actually going to govern with integrity when they finally get into office, then what is even the point?
just finished your story over at Medium and you seem like a good boss, kevin.
MF Doom!
i used to work for the newspaper chain that owned the Baraboo News-Republic and regularly wound up working the community as part of the weekend coverage rotation (small daily newspapers in rural communities don’t have enough reporters and hate paying overtime, so they’d assign a reporter from the one of the two…
yeah, my ex-wife’s mom was a kindergarten teacher in rural, up-north Wisconsin for her entire career, the kind of community where she basically had everyone’s kids come through her classroom and, in later years, the kids of her first students. after retirement, she continued to volunteer and sub in the schools until…
this is fine (Michelle Yeoh is awesome) but Picard’s show better have both a Gorn AND a Horta on the crew or i’m out. lets get some non-humans besides Vulcans and Ferengi on board, dammit.
whoever posted your pictures fucked up, since the photos for the $900 and $3000 jackets appear to be the same image... i’m not in the market for a 3k coat but its hard to believe anyone is going to take your talk of it being worth it seriously when you guys literally can’t tell them apart.
