I totally agree it's a matter of taste, and I'm with you that I am a lover of porsche and would take one over a McLaren any day. Just from experience the McLaren garners many more looks than the reserved porsche.

I suspect it would get much better economy, just look at sprinters. Furthermore, where I live(Southern California) diesel is generally one of the cheaper fuels so it makes total sense.
