It’s really fucked up that your focus is on people mis-terming the Metaverse, while my entire point has been that it’s fucked that people are simulating sexual assault against unwilling people. You’ve repeatedly downplayed the severity to focus on whether or not it's a physically "real" space.

I didnt say the women didn’t have a right to be upset, he said, before continueing to downplay their situation in the way that got him accused of saying they didn’t have the right.

I’d say you are arguing over degrees of your dismissiveness and saying ‘I’m not 100% only 75% dismissive’ is not the win you think it is.

I’m especially weirded out with the discussion of "consent" re: the chatbots. How do the bots "consent" to anything? Even a "healthy" relationship? They're literally programmed to do this (and they're not you know... people) so how meaningful can "consent" even be from a chatbot?

My disgust is, primarily, at the behavior of people who would simulate assault, and that you aren't disgusted as well (and choosing to focus your useless rant on the blocking feature) leads me to believe that you're the type to do this.

This is a longstanding argument in the field of artificial intelligence. In the 1960s Joe Weizenbaum developed ELIZA, a pattern-matching system that was essentially the first chatbot. Its best-known patterns reflected a Rogerian psychotherapy session. Ken Colby hit upon the idea of providing ELIZA to psychiatric

I know someone is going to call me an ableist a-hole so I’m just going to front -load the criticism by recognizing it. I’m going to come out and say what a lot of us are thinking: this WHOLE situation is weird and I don’t think it’s psychologically healthy for some people especially in an age of pandemic-induced dimini

I’m absolutely with you on this. I would be shocked to learn that individuals who are introduced to “intimacy” through this sort of behavior will be able to transition to truly interpersonal types of intimacy without serious problems.

AI’s aren’t sentient. They’re not people. They’re just algorithms that rely on massive piles of data. Flagging a person who ‘absues’ an AI program for bad behavior is as silly as flagging the person running over pedestrians in Grand Theft Auto. It’s not the red flag you think it should be that the next James Alex

If I wanted to associate with someone like this...

It’s not a person, it’s a thing that you buy, own and can do with as you please. Consent has nothing to do with it. Does a vibrator have to give consent? And they’re not actually intelligent, because true AI doesn’t exist.

Caroline Sinder, an artificial intelligence and abuse expert and co-founder of the Convocation Design + Research agency, says allowing for consensual, sexual expression with bots on apps like Replika could actually help users who may be “trying to explore their sexuality in a safe way,”

So, you guys who know me will know I’m not trolling or anything here; this is an honest concern about something I maybe don’t understand.

The last bit, regarding the Metaverse, JFC

Dear everyone at G/O,

Who said anything about forever? If a clear and present advantage is happening on the day of competition that’s all that matters for that competition. Who cares if that advantage might disappear years from now?

You and BAO are the only people who are “ aggressively trying to cast people who disagree with your view as anti-trans bigots and liars”, while also literally calling me anti-trans but also accusing me of “ aggressively trying to cast people who disagree with your view as anti-trans bigots and liars”.

So which is it- am I anti-trans or an overzealous ally because your reply is mind-bendingly hypocritical? You can’t call me both, that my post of the study was grey-area anti-trans sentiment but also that “Not every person who disagrees with you is anti-trans or an attack on you personally".

What do you call people who advocate for trans rights? I call them Trans Rights Advocates, or Trans Rights Activists. Is there another term?

Really? Are you sure? I thought transwomen were fucken robots...  Boxing is classified by weight classes because the biology of heavier opponents gives them an unfair advantage.  Seems to me you’re too caught up in semantics.  Call them whatever you want, if they hold a clear advantage that other “women” can only get

They are defending transwomen- what the fuck are you talking about???
