This is the “good man” argument re-purposed.
“He’s a good artist.” “His music brought so much good .”
It’s doing exactly what the Kavanaugh supporters did- negate, dismiss, condone.

Oh my god I hadn’t read that...and only about twenty minutes ago read that there was another 15 year old he slept with, and I am just creeped out. I mean, you can’t compare two victims that weren’t seduced or talked into doing this (meaning they actively went in search of having sex with him) and Michael Jackson’s

Wow, you are quite angry. This was whether he deserved to be in the same category as Michael Jackson who has multiple victims.
I also cannot compare the victims, considering that to this day the girl ( (a now-50-something year old woman) David Bowie slept with searched him out and slept with him (and many people have

I never suggested that it did...why are you making a link between the two? I’m only stating that as far as repeating the behavior I hadn’t hear that he did (up until about twenty minutes ago, and found a second account of a different girl).

Growing up in Texas, most football fans consider football coaches on par with artists.
But to each their own, I guess. I can’t separate the two, and won’t give my money or time to them.

Note that the sarcasm quotes were only around willing...because I still believe that is statutory rape. Her ‘willingness’ doesn’t change that.

I never read that, and after searching for it found out that he had actually had sex with two 15-year olds. Gross.

I think this is just a personal difference, because I cannot feel good about supporting *anything* that someone has be proven guilty of produces. As far as I understand it is common knowledge that Bowie had sex with a “willing” 14-year-old girl, and has never denied it.
Perhaps a better way to frame my perception

Especially for the time period, but even by today’s standards he was a great dad.

Very true, and I think all around David Bowie became a much better person when his kid was born and there weren’t subsequent accusations/allegations made.
I did actually mourn him dying though, and for a good bit couldn’t listen to his stuff for a bit because I was so heartbroken.

This is far beyond Trump, though Trump exposed just how deep into the sand people will jam their heads to ignore the truth.
I still can’t listen to anything from the 1970's without thinking of David Bowie, Mick Jagger, or Roger Plant sleeping with 14 year old groupies. And I LOVE David Bowie- I can name any song within

But I haven’t been disrespectful- I haven’t name-called or cursed. I do question whether you’ve seen the show as your opinions (which you’re stating as fact) do not align with what actually happened in the show.
When I point out discrepancies with your responses you pull this nonsense.

Re-reading all of your replies, I’m really wondering why you bothered commenting at all on this piece, other than to yell at the clouds that you think that Buffy is, like, wayyy better than Supernatural.
Okay then?

Based on your description of Dean, I can’t believe that you actually watched the show. They consistently refer to his PTSD, the angels had him torture Alistair because Dean trained under Alistair (after agreeing to ‘get off the rack and start putting other people on it’).
Ugh, Buffy’s okay (I guess, if you like

I’m sorry that you had to go through this situation, and it’s a (painful) too-often occurrence.
What was surprising to me, afterwards, was how frequently the media shows women slapping men. It took a bit of time for me to stop justifying slapping my ex first, though I still don’t believe that it justifies him punching

The past year of Collins career has been her defending awful men, and giving non-apologies in response to people questioning why she’s defending awful men.

Wonderful piece, especially in highlighting that it’s not just men but women as well who engage in the ‘good man’ speeches.
I was in a really bad relationship in my early 20's; I had just moved across the country for college and was completely insecure. I started dating a guy who was also very insecure, which led to

That’s fine, but you’re going off topic. This was supposed to be a comparison between Al Franken and a fictitious female SNL comedian, and their comparative elect-ability to a political office. Aidy Bryant hasn’t made any attempt to politics as a career, and trying to force a point by arguing her electability is a red

That’s the phrase you use when you realize your kid is just rebelling and you don’t want to push them into marrying this “recovering bleach job”. It’s why (conservative political activist) Stephen Baldwin is stuck with Justin Bieber for a son-in-law.
Good Move Andi McDowell!!!
