Not to play Penny she's not, because now they're going to have to change most of Penny's lyrics. And who knows what they're going to do about her relationship with Seaweed now that it no longer fits the show's narrative. Do they get rid of it? Pair Seaweed up with another character? I get that they needed to stunt

You're right to be skeptical about Trevor Noah. I watched his RNC coverage and was unimpressed. I have been enjoying Colbert's convention coverage. And while I understand that he was getting tired of the Colbert character, this late show format just isn't working for him.

I could see this working. I read below that Oprah's done voice work before, and I'm sure she's read the book. I know people like to scoff at Oprah's booklists, but that woman knows a good story when she reads one. That said, I still can't get behind this project. Not unless Disney is able to convince Ms. DuVernay not

Yeah. It's not laugh a minute, but It definitely has more laughs than Silver Linings Playbook.

Easy A, Old School, and Bend it Like Beckham

Don't you mean Carlos Danger? (cue the music)

Full Frontal was nominated for best writing of a variety show. The AV Club must not have checked the complete list.

Full Frontal was nominated for its writing. The AV Club really should fix that line in the article. It's misleading.

Modern Family ran out of steam years ago. That said, I still watch. It's entertaining at times, but definitely not Emmy-worthy. I haven't been able to get into The Middle or Goldbergs so I can't comment there. But I completely agree that Constance Wu deserved a nomination.

Samantha Bee and her team got a writing nomination. The AV club just missed it.

Though it's true they aren't up for best variety show, the Full Frontal team did get nominated for best writing for a variety show. Just thought I'd put that out there. Also, Tatiana Maslany secured her second best actress nomination. Don't screw it up this year, Emmy voters!

I'm not so sure about that. I know that Comedy Central has a puzzling business model (they renewed The Nightly Show for a second season afterall) but I can't imagine they would let this show continue to hemorrhage viewers in perpetuity.

Really? I find Michelle Wolf painfully unfunny. In my opinion, most of the new correspondents just aren't cutting it. Roy Wood Jr. is the only one I would keep. He has potential, and I think he could be genuinely funny if the writers would give him stronger pieces. Of the old guard, Klepper's solid, but Hasan's too

"If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball." I'd still give the edge to Zoolander, but I agree it's funnier than Anchorman.

Whoops, I'd missed it. Thanks!

I forgot about Old School. But you're right, for cultural penetration alone that movie deserves a spot on the list.

I can't believe Bend It Like Beckham didn't make the list. And what about Easy A?

Leah's got some serious cojones! Those Scientology types don't mess around. I may have to check this new show out; it sounds interesting.

I can see your point. I think if the show hadn't been so heavily focused on Hamilton, I could have appreciated the message of the opening a bit more. The idea that anyone with dreams can work to achieve them is a great one. I wonder if the number could have been reworked to tell a few of the stories of some of this
