By My Side is her big solo number and knocks it out of the park!

They did one for Sound of Music so I'm assuming they'll do one for this as well. I bought Audra McDonald's version of Climb Every Mountain on itunes. (soooo good!)
You should check out the 2011 cast recording of Godspell. Uzo was phenomenal in that show (I saw it twice) and she sounds great on the album!
I didn't mean perform Hamilton. I meant do color-blind casting the way they did when they cast Hamilton. Miranda has said that Hamilton is a show about America then that looks like America now. I think it would be cool to give The Music Man the same treatment. I agree that it's a strong cast, I loved Uzo in Godspell,…
It was on Nerdist
I know you're kidding, but I wish they'd done The Music Man this year. They acquired the rights last year, but for some reason went with The Wiz instead. I'm in the minority who loved The Sound of Music Live. Was it perfect? No, but I loved it in spite of its flaws. Peter Pan was god awful, but that was because of all…
Challenge accepted! :)
I'm surprised The Hunting Ground made the shortlist. I would have thought the revelation that two of its primary stories were fraudulent would remove it from awards contention. Is accuracy not a requirement in the documentary category? Or is it enough that the filmakers believed the stories to be accurate when they…
It's been depressing to be on the sidelines watching the network I loved as a child turning out sugary pablum for so long. It's even more depressing to learn that the creator of Pete and Pete had a hand in all of that. It looks like the International Adult Conspiracy has won. Have there been any rumblings of a parting…
In terms of continuity and world-building, I think the easiest live-action shows to reboot would be Salute Your Shorts and Are You Afraid of the Dark. It would make sense to have a rotating cast of characters at a summer camp, and it would be easy enough for a new midnight society to form. But I'm not sure today's…
Wait, is Jimmy actually planning a Roundhouse reunion? Because I will 100% watch that! Don't toy with my emotions, A.V.Club!
You mean that Japanese tv show that seems to only report on gay issues in the USA?
I noticed that as well. I found it ridiculously distracting. They cheered and laughed at literally everything he said. It was ridiculously over the top behavior. And, I seem to be in the minority here, but I didn't think there was much to laugh about. I didn't find his monologue funny, the interview was awkward as all…
"It remains to be seen how the Daily Show audience will feel about Noah, but it seems they’ve already embraced Wilmore and The Nightly Show." Except, they haven't. Over on the TNS subreddit, they've been tracking ratings which have fallen steadily for months, and have tanked since Jon went off the air. @Midnight…
I think you've perfectly illustrated what makes This Week Tonight better than this current incarnation of The Daily Show. Oliver has struck a balance on his show between the absurd (#GoGetThoseGeckos) and the serious (the death penalty). TDS hasn't had that balance in years. They ditched all of their sillier segments…
Yes! I'm glad to see another fan of This Week in God. It was, in my opinion, one of their best recurring segments. Aasif Mandvi totally could have taken that over after Colbert and Cordry left. Do you remember Mark Your Calendar? I also wish they had kept that up, Sam always delivered with those.
Livestreams tend to slow down my laptop, has anyone found a way to chromecast this livestream from their iphones?
I agree with 99% of this article, but I do want to put in a good word for Jim Gaffigan's new show. I watched the first episode released on his site, and I thought it was hilarious. It did a good job of putting a mirror up to our 24 hour news cycle culture, while still being broad enough for a larger audience. I hope…
Sadly, no. It has ridiculously high production value for a stand-up special, and he wears a nice suit, but it's not funny. Actually, I feel like stand-up special is a misnomer. This was really more of a one man show/ TED talk, half lecture/half performance, but no jokes. Which is a shame, because I loved his first…
I am so disappointed with this show. I loved Larry as the Senior Black Correspondent on The Daily Show. I can't count the number of times I've gone back to rewatch the segment where he and John Oliver team up to interview the New York politician who was trying to ban the n word. That segment was genius. So I was…
