And he has the core reactor surgically placed back into his chest?

I've always thought of Thor as more of an ironic god, myself.

But can they explain how Tony Stark goes from permanently retiring at the end of Iron Man 3 to spending another full movie sleepwalking through the exact same plot towards retirement?

Cool. I love movies that help people understand that when superpowers of the world engage in violent conflict there is no reason to worry about pesky things like consequences, choices, sacrifices or collateral damage.

Age of Ultron is predicted to be the biggest opening of a film in history. This is probably because Netflix is keeping people away from the theaters for some reason or another. Good thing Disney is taking profits away from exhibitors to compensate for this major loss. Tough times for Disney!

Global warming isn't a problem that we need to worry about because Al Gore doesn't understand how the economy works.

Cool. You clearly understand how ad hominem attacks work.

I'd encourage you to actually read the Variety article linked to by the AV Club. It's interesting stuff. Here are some quotes:

Consider this as well, as part of the larger trend that these independent theater chains are experiencing:

Small independent theaters are indeed being crushed by the financial pressures exerted by studio conglomerates like Disney (not just Disney, but they are currently the worst offender). See the article above for some specific examples of this.

And let me guess, you're probably one of those people that argue climate change isn't a serious threat to the planet because Al Gore is fat and has a private jet so shut up that's why.

Wait, is that a Disney story? Because if it's not, I probably won't find it entertaining.

Personally, video games have had more of an effect on my theater going habits than Netflix, but sure. Netflix/streaming has affected how I access television shows and home video, but it hasn't limited my interest in going to see first run movies in the theater.

Here's a great place to start on your quest for knowledge.

Anti-intellectualism is so entertaining!

Check out some of the interviews Joss Whedon has given over the past couple of weeks. His criticisms aren't as trenchant as mine, but they may be easier for you to understand and accept.

I don't, but there are thousands of blogs, essays, books, lectures, studies, etc, on the effect that Disney has had on the entertainment industry and on storytelling. Disneyfication has been a subject of discussion and concern since the earliest Disney cartoons removed any sense of meaning or morality from traditional

Shakespeare is entertaining. Disney is mind-numbing.
