Wow, for someone who doesn’t give a f**k about Star Wars, this was the most insufferable and obnoxious AVClub review in some time- which is saying a lot.

It’s ridiculous and enjoyable but with respect, it’s already been in cartoonish terms. Kreese faking his death for a prison escape, guys in their sixties declaring they’re not afraid to die before a katana battle over a teenaged martial arts tournament- all of this is escapist fantasy, none of it is realistic!
I don’t look bad fondly on it but it’s simply because I didn’t have a television. I remember commercials which showed the judge doing magic tricks but simply never got to saw it so I will take your word for it that every single person in our generation either likes it or you only know people who were never poor.
It’s subjective. Many people never loved him; some of us were amazed at the hipster enthusiasm where people had Bill Murray bumper stickers on their vehicles and whatnot. Whatever your nostalgia is for Meatballs or Ghost Busters.
You’ve responded a dozen times to someone that apparently doesn’t matter. Your messiah Ayn Rand would have told you that hiding behind fake names while making assumptions about total strangers wasn’t very objectivist, you know.
Yawn. This is one of the few characters where basically everyone knew his origin to an extent whether they read comics or not- for literally the last six decades or so. I understand casting a younger actor if they’re looking for a 10 year commitment- but otherwise, why do we need “younger days/road to becoming”…
How dare you not consider casting Dean Cain and Kirk Cameron for this?!
Actors are not important. They work for your leisure and escapism.
Put this with “Fleishman is in Trouble” and “Only Murders in the Building” as projects about banal rich people that I don’t care about. Every film or show is about wealthy white people more and more
This looks fab.
I don’t know, his voice is kind of strange if he’s supposed to be the son of Leslie Howard and Oliva de Havilland; they should’ve cast a British kid. Sorry Mick.
We don’t need Movie Stars. Secondly, this is a guy who admitted that he knew Weinstein was sexually assaulting women and “regretted” not “doing more”. I don’t know why he still has a voice and a critical, judgmental voice at that.
Bowie did ‘Space Oddity’... Elton John went out to get the same producer (Gus Dudgeon) and instructed him to make ‘Rocket Man’ just like it. In 1974, Bowie goes to Sigma in Philly and does the ‘Young Americans’ album with Lennon on 2 tracks. In 1975, Elton John comes up with “Philadelphia Freedom” with a B-Side that’s…
Let me say that I have never seen and don’t have great interest in a lot of Scorsese’s work. I understand he’s respected. I would rather watch Captain America than Casino. That being said- I remember when his comments were first reported on. I mean, he was being interviewed. I’m not a fan of his but has Scorsese not…
I didn’t see the glimpse at MODOK that this trailer review mentions- did anyone else?
The Ant-Man films have been extremely well done and enjoyable so I’m excited to see this one. At the same time, I hope it’s just simplified by the trailer and the entire plot doesn’t stem *just* from Cassie accidentally doing something just-that-quick like Spider-Man did in his last film during Doc Strange’s spell.
As always, I am amazed people do this and aren’t being slapped by another white person (which is who should slap these useless d**ks). It’s not as if they’re physically imposing or something. No class is going to help these entitled kids, quite frankly.
Another black hole of no charisma, elevated by pop culture. He’s banal and contributes nothing but, what’s worse, he normalized Sean Spicer. Let’s ignore him.
You do know that super heroes are literally practicing fascism- going out and solving problems by force? It’s laughable at your pretentious moral outrage, born after 1989 and using “fucking” like you’re personally offended. You’re a consumer, not a creator. Secondly, Alan Moore has never been saying that literal comic…
Sure, that’s fair enough. But certainly you realize that your impression is subjective and just as rooted in possible confirmation bias, right? He doesn’t appear humble or ‘modest’ because why- because he won’t watch adaptions of work he created that he felt shouldn’t be adapted? Why does having a different outlook or…
