Re: trial period - almost all shelters are over capacity, and will allow you to “foster” a cat for a limited time.  They provide cat, food, and vet care; you just give it a loving home.  THIS is the best way to do a trial run.

My 93 Ford truck’s turn signals are regular old incandescent bulbs that blink lethargically from their tombs of thick, 30-year-old, scuffed-up plastic and grime. A human driver with average vision can see them no problem, but I doubt any sort of camera + computer combination would know whether I’m signaling or not.
