The periodic cicadas stink when they die. I find this disturbing. I’d eat a dog day cicada though (the regular green/black ones that come every August).

Yep, Six Sigma is about 15 years out of date.

Wild horses are a menace. They overgraze the delicate desert habitat, drink water that should go to native fauna, get in traffic, and are a general nuisance. They are not native (introduced by Spaniards during the colonial period). The only humane and rational solution is large-scale roundups and humane euthanasia,

    By Grom, you’re right!

I’m shocked that the rats didn’t shred the title for nest material and pee on it vigorously.

I test drove one a couple years ago - couldn’t see a damn thing out of it. Soul has much better visibility and more interior space.

TESTIFY! I love the Soul. As of the last time I shopped for a new car (2014), you could still buy it with a stick, making it something of a rare bird as well. Gotta love a boxy 4-banger with a stick.  The Honda Element was slightly more useful, but 20% more expensive.

Yes but not the iron cross. That comes from the factory.

feel irresponsible driving a nearly-6,000 pound truck that gets single-digit mpg, even if I drive it as infrequently as possible.

    The Drivers:

Counterpoint: “cultural context” is not why I Google a recipe. The recipe is the destination. I love The Takeout and Skillet not because of recipes - I can’t even recall reading one on here - but because of the quality of your writing. If I’m looking for a recipe I just want the bloody recipe and no shenanigans.

Perhaps the person who returned them saw this, soiled herself, and desperately ran to the police station in a futile attempt to escape the wrath of Machete.

In our state (NM) no board of realtors will share sales data with Zillow and our county assessors do not report sales price as a matter of state law. Therefore, Zillow has no clue what sale prices actually *are* except for a few self-reported examples.

I came close to not upgrading from swamp cooler + propane to high efficiency heat pump + AC climate control for that reason.  Transformer on my street was *almost* maxed - power company guy said the next sorry soul to request more service to their house in my neighborhood has to foot the bill. $10,000.   Yikes.

Have you tried to scan a barcode lately? Or a QR? Or how about take an image of a check for mobile deposit?

My 93 Ford truck’s turn signals are regular old incandescent bulbs that blink lethargically from their tombs of thick, 30-year-old, scuffed-up plastic and grime. A human driver with average vision can see them no problem, but I doubt any sort of camera + computer combination would know whether I’m signaling or not.

But can you guarantee that it will go to Moab in said indeterminate spring *under its own power*?

D2 had an endgame - Ubers. And clone hunting.

Water > food > shelter in a mouse’s little mouse brain. Water features and bird seed feeders will attract them, and slow-drip plumbing leaks will also keep them happy.

If you live in an oil patch, the utilities do this to disincentivize solar. In my town, the fee is $7.28/kWh/month (also forever). EarthJustice currently has petitions and court actions going to get rid of these unnecessary fees.
