There is a whole lot of self-righteousness wrapped up in every hashtag campaign no matter what the issue is. My criticism isn't that it's unimportant to hear these accounts, but that relating these accounts isn't enough. Honestly engage in discussion with men and women and you'll be doing something far more effective

So ignorance is anything you disagree with? That's fairly typical of narcissists.

Don't make it seem like it's only men. There are a fair number of women that also think #YesAllWomen is a load of self-righteous crap.

whiskey is never the problem always the solution.

So what about respecting Islam by not representing the prophet? Disrespectful to a certain portion of Muslims, but well within the right of free expression. This is the road you go down when you start having respect as a litmus test.

I don't think "respect" has any place in art. Artists do their thing, it's up to the audience to interpret.

I have no desire to debate past this point. We can agree to disagree.

Of course that's your right and I would join you. But I don't think movies or portrayals need to be respectful in their representations no matter who they're about. I think the common good is served better by not stifling speech, no matter how disgusting, rather than ensuring some people don't have their feelings

Well I knew that was coming. Always a great way to shut down someone who disagrees with you.

Both arguments are poor.

That's not the argument though- the argument is that cis actors can't portray trans people because they don't know the experience of being trans.

Should all portrayals of all characters be respectful? Who gets to decide? And where does that leave satire? Or for that matter, freedom of expression?

All actors pretend- that's what they do. To say that trans people can't be represented on screen by non trans actors is like saying Idris Elba can't play a Norse god because the Norse weren't black. And, not every part has to be played respectfully. Movies tell stories, they don't have to be respectful.

Jesus Christ yes. And now everyone else with a fucking agenda is hanging their hats on this. To not see this as yet another instance of untreated, extreme mental illness is ludicrous. He practically defines the term "delusional."

Andy Dick. (Cream)

I think probably any baby bird would fit the bill. I'll let you know after I try a few different kinds.

Yeah, Harris's Red Dragon and both interpretations of it on film alluded to how difficult Will Graham's prior experiences with Lecter were. Brian Fuller's really selling that in this series. It'll be interesting to see what he does after the events that lead to Red Dragon are complete- just segue right into Red

Chekhov's crossbow.

Yes, it looks like they changed it or used a nontraditional recipe for it. Every one that I could find has testicles not liver as an ingredient. Which is a pretty big taste/texture difference.
