Wellllll, marijuana can be a contributing factor to one’s first psychotic break. That being said, there are plenty of other environmental (not to mention genetic) factors at play as well, and so claiming that the onset of psychosis is exclusively due to marijuana use is naive at best.
What about pot being a scary gateway drug? It’s going to suck you in and ruin your life. Sarcasm aside, I smoked pot more than I ever drank when I was a teenager/young adult, but never tried anything stronger than that. Millions of alcoholics and their loved ones have suffered greatly.
My dad is a (retired) psychiatrist and the #1 best person in the world, but he will not give up us marijuana prejudice. He claims to have seen it ruin more lives than alcohol during his career. I can’t refute his personal experience as a practitioner but it drives me nuts because there is no science to back it up.
