Incorrect: Simon Belmont was absurdly competent in his home world of Castlevania Land. He was just seriously fish-out of water everywhere else. The whole vain, conceited thing was just a bonus.

She wasn’t a full player surrogate in Super, nor was she in Fusion or Zero Mission (OG Metroid is exempt due to NES-era design/storytelling and the whole ‘keeping Samus’ identity secret for the ending’ thing.)
